Port Reports –  June 10

Port reports are compiled from volunteer reader observations and AIS transmissions. Please send information about vessel arrivals and departures from your port to news@boatnerd.net by 9 p.m. (Eastern) nightly for them to be included in the next day’s news. Please include name of vessel, arrival time, day and dock it went to (if known). We welcome new reporters. If your port is not included, we would welcome your contributions. We are particularly looking for reporters for the St. Marys River, Southern Lake Michigan ports, Detroit, Toledo and the Hamilton/Toronto area.

Duluth-Superior – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry: American Century arrived at 23:11 (CST) Tuesday night to fuel at Husky; she then shifted over to Lakehead Pipeline to take a delay. James R. Barker departed at 00:21 Wednesday morning with coal. CSL Tadoussac arrived at 03:03 to also fuel at Husky. Joseph L. Block arrived at 09:05 to unload limestone at Graymont. Edgar B. Speer arrived at 17:54 to load iron ore pellets at CN#6. As of Wednesday night, Edgar B. Speer was the only vessel in port on the Duluth side. Edgar B. Speer is estimated to depart Thursday afternoon with iron ore pellets. American Mariner is expected to arrive Thursday night to load wheat at General Mills, Superior.
Superior Entry: Tim S. Dool departed at 05:31 (CST) Wednesday morning with iron ore pellets for Hamilton. CSL Tadoussac departed at 17:05 with iron ore pellets. As of Wednesday night, American Century was taking a delay at Lakehead Pipeline and Joseph L. Block was unloading limestone at Graymont. American Century is expected to shift over to BNSF Thursday early afternoon.

Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A Putney
American Spirit was due Two Harbors on 6/9, but has been going up and down the Northshore waiting on weather. Due Two Harbors on 6/10 is the Michipicoten. She will probably load at North of #2 gravity dock. Northshore Mining in Silver Bay saw the Mesabi Miner depart on 6/9 at 15:3/4 for Cleveland. The Joyce L. VanEnkevort /Great Lakes Trader arrived Silver Bay at 08:34. She was delayed getting to the ore dock until the Mesabi Miner departed. Due Northshore Mining on 6/10 is the Clyde S. VanEnKevort/Erie Trader.

Thunder Bay, ON
Sunday; 20:59 Algoma Transport departed for Detroit. Monday; 6:50 The saltie Chesnut arrived at the Richardson Current River Terminal to load grain. Tuesday; 6:11 Algoma Sault arrived at the Superior Elevator to load. 6:31 CSL Welland arrived at Viterra A to load wheat. 20:01 CSL St Laurent arrived at Viterra B to load wheat. 21::51 Federal Oshima departed for Montreal. 22:03 Harvest Spirit arrived at the Richardson Main Terminal to load grain. Wednesday; 11:02 CSL Welland departed for Montreal. CSL St Laurent shifted to Viterra A to finish loading.

Northern Lake Michigan:
Brevort: Monday; 23:39 John J Boland departed for Buffalo.
Port Inland: Tuesday; 18:19 Cuyahoga arrived to load limestone and departed Wednesday at 3:12 for Spragge Harbour. 4:16 Herbert C Jackson Arrived to load.
Charlevoix: Monday; 18:31 Caroline McKee / Commander departed for Grand Haven. Tuesday 17:35 Prentiss Brown / St Marys Challenger arrived to load cement products and departed at 0:01 for Milwaukee.13:18 Bradshaw McKee / St Marys Conquest arrived to load cement products.

Sturgeon Bay, WI
On Monday, the Sarter tugs Donald J Sarter and William C Gaynor brought LCS 23 from Marinette and she was hauled in the floating drydock at Bay Ship. Other than that, Roger Blough (berth 15) and Cason J Callaway (berth 3) are still in layup and the barge PML 9000 is tied up at berth 1.

Green Bay, WI – Jon
On Wednesday morning the Alpena arrived at 3:24 am from Alpena,MI with Cement for the Lafarge Terminal. Then at 6:51 am Wednesday morning the Arthur M. Anderson departed Green Bay for Cedarville,OH. Also departing from Green Bay,WI Wednesday afternoon was the Tug Albert Barge Margaret at 1:05 pm for Toledo,OH.

Northern Lake Huron
Owen Sound: Tuesday; 11:34 Chi Cheemaun left her winter layup berth and departed for Tobermory.
Tobermory: Tuesday; 15:37 Chi Cheemaun arrived to begin scheduled ferry service to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island for the season.
McGregor Bay: Tuesday 7:35 Samuel De Champlain / Innovation arrived at the Lafarge Whitefish River Terminal to unload cement products and departed at 17:50 for Alpena.
Little Current; Tuesday; 5:53 Sharon M1 / Huron Spirit departed for Algoma Steel Sault Ste Marie.
Meldrum Bay: Tuesday; 9:29 Algoma Niagara departed 12:24 Baie Comeau arrived to load and departed Wednesday at 3:53 for Windsor. 16:30 Sam Laud arrived to load limestone.
Spragge Harbour: Wednesday; Cuyahoga arrived to unload limestone.
Bruce Mines: Wednesday; 11:01 Algoma Innovator arrived to load trap rock.
Drummond Island: Wednesday; 1:48 Victory / Maumee arrived to load limestone. Calcite: Tuesday; 15:27 Great Republic arrived to load. 17:01 Olive L Moore / Menominee arrived and went to anchor. 20:57 John G Munson arrived to load. Wednesday; 10:26 Great Republic departed for Detroit.
Alpena: Monday; 20:16 Undaunted / Pere Marquette 41 departed for Grand Haven.21:43 The cement carrier Alpena arrived to load and departed Tuesday at 4:04 for Green Bay. 6:23 G L Ostrander / Integrity arrived to load cement products and departed Wednesday at 0:58 for Milwaukee. 5:24 Samuel De Champlain / Innovation arrived to load cement products.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Tug Dorthy Ann with barge Pathfinder arrived 2.20 pm Tuesday loaded salt cleared 8.13 pm downbound for Sandusky. Algoma Intrepid approaching. Algoma Niagara and Algoma Buffalo expected in that order.

Lake Erie Ports for Wednesday – Bill Kloss
Monroe: Paul R. Tregurtha arrived at 11:23 with coal for DTE.
Marblehead: American Courage arrived at 05:34 from Cleveland. She left for Cleveland atc19:28.
Lorain: Radcliffe R. Latimer is due on Thursday.
Cleveland: Calumet departed for Ashtabula. Federal Yoshino is at the Port. Sinaa arrived at 00:31 and went to anchor. G tug Ohio escorted her into dock 24E at the Port at 07:55. American Courage left for Marblehead. Petite Forte/St. Mary’s Cement arrived at 18:16 and Robert S. Pierson arrived at 20:09.
Fairport Harbor: Defiance/Ashtabula departed for Calcite.
Ashtabula: Calumet arrived late Tuesday night.
Conneaut: Indiana Harbor departed for Midwest Energy in Superior.
Erie: Miena Desgagnes arrived at 05:41.
Nanticoke: Algoma Hansa departed for Sorel-Tracy and Whitefish Bay left for Duluth. Robert S. Pierson left Stelco at 11:17 for Cleveland.
