Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
New York – DS509A stayed an extra day at the Suite Kote dock on the account of weather and then got underway at 7AM on the 9th. The Vermont met them at the lock and escorted the New York out, picking up the pilot off the Erie Basin. The New York stayed in the notch and departed the North Entrance around 8:45AM, bound for Detroit.  The last “classic” laker that still comes to Buffalo arrived on the 21st. The 690-foot Herbert C Jackson came in with sand for Canadian Silica and went up all by herself at 6AM. She was followed in at 9AM by the NACC Capri when she was towed up to LaFarge by the Vermont. The Jackson was done first and backed out with no tugs at 4PM during a pouring rainstorm. NACC Capri departed Buffalo bound for Bath, ON, at 8AM on the 22nd. I’m not sure if they took a tug out, but they typically would have one at the stern to check the way she pulls to one side on the way down the river to the lake.
