Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The tug-barge combo New York – DS509A arrived from the Long Point Bay Anchorage at 5:00AM on November 3rd after spending three days there on account of bad weather. They came in the North Entrance and made a slow turn to the South facing down the Outer Harbor to a spot off Time’s Beach. The tug dropped her tow line on the barge and “notched up” for the transit down to the Black Rock Lock. They met the Vermont off the Erie Basin, picked up their pilot, and headed down for the Suite Kote dock in Tonawanda. The barge was unloaded there in about a day and they headed out around 8AM on the 4th, again with the Vermont clearing the Buffalo piers around 9:30. Just past the Safe Water Beacon, the New York came to a stop, broke out of the notch, and took the DS-509A on a wire behind her for the slow tow up to Detroit.
