Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A. Putney
Edgar B. Speer departed Two Harbors on 01/10 at 07:27 for Conneaut. Arriving Two Harbors on 01/10 at 08:08 was the John J. Boland after being anchored off Duluth. Due Two Harbors on 01/11 is the H. Lee White after having been anchored off Bay Mills above the Soo. She got underway the afternoon of 01/11.
St. Marys River
As the season winds down, vessels are now having to deal with ice in the lower river. Upbound Walter J. McCarthy Jr. required cutter assistance Monday morning through the usual trouble spots behind Neebish Island, Paul R. Tregurtha needed to have the ice in the channel broken up so she could make he turn down into the Rock City. USCG Bristol Bay and Mobile Bay are the assets assigned to the lower river. Other upbound traffic Monday included H. Lee White, Kaye E. Barker and Edwin H. Gott. Other downbounders included tug Beverly M 1 and barge, Sharon M. 1 and barge, Whitefish Bay, American Integrity, Victory and barge Maumee.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived from Alpena at 08:11 Monday (01/10) with cement for Lafarge. Spartan/Spartan II cleared for Ludington at 11:49. Caroline McKee/Commander was stopped in Milwaukee Bay about a mile northeast of the harbor entrance.
Northern Lake Huron
McGregor Bay: Monday; 3:46 John D Leitch weighed anchor and departed for Chicago.
St Ignace: Monday; 10:13 The tug Michigan / tanker barge Great Lakes for Cheboygan arrived and went to anchor to wait out the weather.
Alpena: Saturday; The tug Manitou arrived and docked in the Thunder Bay River. Monday; 12:13 Manitou departed for the Lafarge plant to conduct ice operations. 12:54 G L Ostrander / Integrity arrived at the Lafarge plant to load cement products. Manitou returned to her berth in the Thunder Bay River. \
Tawas City: Algoma Intrepid and Manitoulin both for Goderich had been anchored off the west shore in southern Lake Huron on Sunday to wait out weather. Monday at 1:00 they weighed anchor and sailed north. Both vessels arrived and went to anchor off of Port Gypsum.
Lake Erie Ports for Monday – Bill Kloss
Monroe: New York/Double Skin 509A arrived from Detroit at 07:19 to offload petroleum products.
Sandusky: CSL Niagara is loading coal at Norfolk Southern. Great Republic is on her way to Conneaut but anchored off of Sandusky due to weather conditions.
Cleveland: Herbert C. Jackson is due to arrive on Tuesday.
Conneaut: Due in on Tuesday are American Century and Great Republic.
Nanticoke: Algonova arrived at 06:52 and joined Algoma Hansa and Algonorth at anchor.
