Tuesday; With a south gale blowing on Lake Michigan a number of vessels have gone to anchor on the Lake Huron side of the Straits of Mackinac to wait out the weather. Defiance / Ashtabula for Brevort and Clyde S Van Enkevort / Erie Trader for Indiana Harbor are anchored off of St Ignace. Joseph L Block for Indiana Harbor is anchored off of Mackinaw City. Victory Maumee for Burns Harbor is anchored east of Cheboygan off of High Banks.

Duluth-Superior – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry: As of Tuesday night, no vessels were in port on the Duluth side. Lee A. Tregurtha is expected Wednesday night or later for winter lay-up at Fraser Shipyards. James R. Barker is also expected Wednesday night, but for winter lay-up at Port Terminal.
Superior Entry: CSL Assiniboine departed at 07:38 (CST) Tuesday morning with iron ore pellets for Nanticoke. Frontenac arrived at 12:50 to load iron ore pellets at BNSF. As of Tuesday night, Frontenac was loading at BNSF; they are estimated to depart early Wednesday morning with iron ore pellets. Walter J. McCarthy Jr. is expected late Tuesday night to load next at BNSF.
Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A. Putney
John J. Boland departed Two Harbors on 01/10 at 22:11 for Gary. Due Two Harbors on 01/11 between 19:00 and 20:00 is the H. Lee White. Due Two Harbors on 01/12 is the Edwin H. Gott As of 17:00 she is running checked and it looks like she’s going South of Rock of Ages. Due Two Harbors either late on 01/12 or early on 01/13 are the Indiana Harbor and the Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader. If the Dirk S. does go to Two Harbors I believe this will be the first VanEnkevort ATB to load there this shipping season. An update. When the Speer departed Two Harbors she had a Conneaut destination. She is now going to Gary.

Tuesday; 6:45 CCGS Samuel Risley resumed ice operations. 8:56 Florence Spirit arrived at the Richardson Main Terminal to load wheat. 19:03 CCGS Samuel Risley returned to the coast guard station. 20:22 Florence Spirit departed for Windsor.
Southern Lake Michigan – Stephen Sostaric
Indiana Harbor: Wilfred Sykes shifted to Indiana Harbor Tuesday night from Burns Harbor.
Gary: Presque Isle departed Tuesday evening for Erie, PA after unloading.
Port of Indiana – Burns Harbor: Michipicoten entered port Tuesday morning to load after spending the night anchored in the lake. Sam Laud arrived from Grand Haven and anchored offshore late Tuesday afternoon, followed soon after by the departure of Wilfred Sykes for Indiana Harbor.
Northern Lake Huron
Midland: 9:39 CCGS Griffon arrived to conduct ice operations. 9:43 Whitefish Bay arrived at the ADM Elevator to unload wheat. 16:44 CCGS Griffon departed to resume ice operations.
St Ignace:Tuesday; 6:38 The tug Michigan / tanker barge Great Lakes departed for Cheboygan.
Cheboygan: Tuesday; 10:16 The tug Michigan and tanker barge Great Lakes arrived at the US Oil Co terminal to unload petroleum products.
Tawas City: Tuesday; 0:16 Manitoulin weighed anchor and departed for the elevator in Goderich to unload grain. 1:06 Algoma Intrepid weighed anchor and departed for Compass Minerals in Goderich.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Manitoulin arrived at 07:59 Tuesday morning at the elevators; this is their 2nd appearance in Goderich this season. Algoma Intrepid arrived at 08:51 Tuesday to load at Compass Minerals; this is their 34th appearance this season in Goderich.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe: New York/Double Skin 509A departed for Detroit at 08:50. Corps tug Demolen left for Detroit at 14:55.
Sandusky: Great Republic pulled up anchor and left for Conneaut. CSL Niagara departed for Nanticoke at 17:37.
Cleveland: Herbert C. Jackson arrived at 06:34 to begin running shuttles to the Cliffs mill on the Cuyahoga River. She is scheduled for 3 trips here
Conneaut: Great Republic arrived at 08:53 to unload at the P&C dock. American Century arrived shortly after and anchored to wait for the Republic to unload.
Nanticoke: Algonova went to Imperial Oil while Algonorth remains anchored. Algoma Hansa left for Sarnia at 19:16.
