St. Marys River – Roger LeLievre
The tanker Algonova arrived at the Purvis Dock in the lower harbor on the Canadian side to unload Thursday around noon in blizzard conditions, escorted by USCG Biscayne Bay, which moored at Group Soo. The Purvis tug Wilfred M. Cohen met them below Six Mile Point and continued though the river headed toward fleetmate Anglian Lady/barge Ironmaster, still beset west of the Mackinaw Bridge.

Straits of Mackinac: Thursday; 0:49 Algoma Niagara for Goderich stopped in Lake Michigan to await escort. 7:45 CCGS Griffon and USCG Mobile Bay began escorting CSL Assiniboine for Milwaukee to Lake Michigan. 12:05 Algoma Intrepid, 13:21 Algoma Sault both for Goderich stopped in Lake Michigan to await escort. 20:30 Wilfred M Cohen crossed the Straits of Mackinac to rendezvous with Anglian Lady / Iron Master.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
After delivering deicing salt for Compass Minerals, Algoma Intrepid cleared for Goderich at 17:51 Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, Caroline McKee/Commander entered port and tied up at the just vacated salt dock. Tug/barge continued on to Charlevoix at 11:36 Thursday (01/27). Delayed by ice at the Straits of Mackinac, CSL Assiniboine will not arrive before Friday. She is carrying deicing salt from Morton, Windsor.

Alpena:Wednesday; 17:41 The tug Manitou arrived to conduct ice operations. Thursday; 10:30 Manitou returned to her berth in the Thunder Bay River. 11:07 Samuel De Champlain / Innovation arrived at the Lafarge plant to load cement products and departed at 23:37 for Detroit.
Lower St Marys River north of Detour. : 19:12 USCG Biscayne Bay went to anchor 23:57 AlgoNova arrived and went to anchor. 8:05 began ice operations and escorted AlgoNova up river to Sault Ste Marie.
Sault Ste Marie: Wednesday; 15:07 USCG Katmai Bay arrived at the US Coast Guard station. Thursday; 12:18 Wilfred M Cohen departed for the Straits of Mackinac. 13:11 Algo Nova arrived at the Purvis Marine dock to unload petroleum products. USCG Biscayne Bay arrived at the Coast Guard station.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Niagara and Algoma Sault are both expected in Goderich. They are impeded
by ice west Mackinaw.
