CCGS Jean Bourdon
Built in 2018 by Kanter Marine in St. Thomas, Ontario, CCGS Jean Bourdon is one of two Channel Survey & Sounding Vessels built for the purpose of conducting hydrographic surveys. The catamaran-style vessels feature state-of-the-art technology including multi-beam sonar, positioning systems, and data acquisition and processing systems.
They can also assist with activities related to search and rescue, aids to navigation, law enforcement and emergency response, natural disasters, and other scientific missions.
This vessel honors Jean Bourdon, who performed the first hydrographic studies of the St. Lawrence River in the 17th century.
