Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Presque Isle departed via the Superior Entry at 06:00 with a load of ore (likely Hibtac pellets) from BNSF Dock 5. Due to weather conditions on the eastern end of Lake Superior, she appears to be taking a sheltered route along the southern shore on her way to the Stelco Lake Erie Works in Nanticoke. With the dock vacated, John D. Leitch shifted from her anchorage inside the Duluth Harbor to Superior to load ore. Anchored off the piers waiting their turn at the dock are Canadian vessels Algoma Harvester and CSL Assiniboine; the two dropped anchor on Friday night and Saturday morning, respectively. As the Leitch made her way across the harbor, 1,000-foot American Century departed Midwest Energy with coal for St. Clair and cleared the Duluth Entry shortly after 09:40. Saltie Eeborg was the first inbound traffic of the day, arriving Duluth at 13:25 and tying up at Gavilon in Superior to load beet pulp pellets. H. Lee White departed exactly three hours later with wheat for Buffalo. After the wind died down in the evening, Algoma Central Corporation’s Algoma Mariner arrived the Duluth Entry at 22:35 to load petroleum coke at Midwest Energy. She had been anchored off the piers since just after midnight. Walter J. McCarthy Jr. was the last vessel traffic for Saturday, making her way under the Aerial Lift Bridge just after 23:00 to load ore at CN Dock 6.
