Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
On a quieter day in the Twin Ports, either side of the harbor saw but one arrival and departure each. The action began early morning in Superior, with CSL’s Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin departing for Quebec City with Hibtac pellets at 02:46. ASC’s 1,000-foot Burns Harbor was inbound the piers at 04:33 to load on her usual taconite run. In the evening, Spartan/Spartan II cleared the Duluth Ship Canal at 17:29 for Ludington before American Century arrived to load coal at 19:09.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
American Integrity departed Two Harbors at 07:54 with Minorca pellets for the port named Indiana Harbor. The vessel named Indiana Harbor arrived at 12:33 for south of #2.

Thunder Bay, ON – Anonymous
Franco Compania Naviera’s bulk carrier Johanna G finished loading and departed Tuesday at 23:53. The saltie is headed for Sorel to top off with grain before sailing for an overseas port. Evans Spirit arrived at the Richardson Current River Terminal just after midnight, Cuyahoga tied up at the Superior Elevator at 4:05, and Algoma Strongfield was inbound for the Richardson Main Terminal three hours later. All three Canadian vessels were loading grain at their respective docks. At 16:12, Cape arrived at Thunder Bay Terminals to take on potash. Cuyahoga finished loading and departed at 18:15 for Port Colborne; Evans Spirit left port seven minutes later and is currently downbound on Lake Superior for the Soo Locks. 

Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Port Inland, MI: A very busy week for limestone shipments started off with classic laker John G. Munson departing Monday at 23:03 bound for Marine City. Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived shortly after to load and departed Tuesday at 14:50 for Duluth-Superior. Due next in port was Calumet; she was outbound Wednesday at 0:44 for Sarnia. Tug/barge combo Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 departed at 05:26 for Holland, and American Courage was next in line at the dock for stone.
Charlevoix, MI: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger departed St. Marys Cement at 0:58 Tuesday for Milwaukee. Their fleetmates Caroline McKee/Commander arrived at the plant to load early Wednesday morning and were outbound at 13:12 for Chicago.

Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports, Jeremy Whitman
The Port of Milwaukee’s busiest week of the season thus far continued Wednesday with the arrival of Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger from Charlevoix at 01:49. The pair is unloading cement at the Kinnickinnic River terminal. Inbound at 08:31 with salt from Goderich, Algoma Innovator headed for the Kinder Morgan bagging plant at South Slip 3 on Jones’ Island. CSL Laurentien arrived at 10:58 and, with assistance from G-tugs Hawaii and Louisiana, backed into the inner harbor and tied up at the COFCO elevator to load grain. This is a somewhat rare occurrence; a domestic laker has not loaded at the facility in at least three years. Meredith Ashton/AM 2101 remained at Federal Marine Terminals South Slip 1 discharging steel coils, and University of Minnesota research vessel Blue Heron is still in port after arriving Wednesday. 

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 19:06 for KCBX Terminals south.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Wilfred Sykes shifted to the southern end of Dock 7H around 11:00 and tied up behind the unloading James R. Barker, likely to discharge an aggregate cargo. She departed at 13:58 for Grand Haven. The Barker was also outbound at 17:28 with an AIS destination of Duluth-Superior, making room for Joseph L. Block to move across the inner harbor from Mittal West to 7H at 19:30.
Gary, IN: Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 09:20 to unload Minntac pellets from Two Harbors at the northern end of the dock. She departed for South Chicago at 17:30, and fleetmate Edgar B. Speer arrived at 18:09. Limited by her shuttle boom, she discharged the same cargo as the Anderson farther down the dock in the Gary Works unloading hopper.
Burns Harbor, IN: Vlieborg remained at Federal Marine Terminals.

Northern Lake Huron Ports – Anonymous
Alpena, MI: At 06:23 Tuesday, Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived at Lafarge to load cement and departed at 10:41 for McGregor Bay. Albert/Margaret went to anchor for weather at 15:48. Wednesday morning at 06:37, Viking Cruises vessel Viking Octantis arrived and anchored off the Thunder Bay River. She started tendering passengers at 07:22 for shore excursions. Albert/Margaret departed at 17:21 for Sarnia.
Stoneport, MI: Olive L. Moore/Menominee were inbound Monday at 01:10 to load limestone and departed for the Saginaw River once again. Olive L. Moore/Menominee arrived Wednesday at 13:56 for another load of limestone.
Calcite, MI: Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader and Sam Laud arrived on Tuesday for limestone at 00:13 and 14:03, respectively. The VanEnkevort and her barge departed Wednesday at 4:23 for Duluth-Superior, and Sam Laud cleared the harbor at 10:05 for Green Bay. Manitowoc arrived shortly after to load.
Cheboygan, MI: Albert/Margaret departed for Sarnia at 06:21 on Tuesday.
Port Dolomite, MI: H. Lee White arrived Tuesday at 20:41 to load limestone.
Drummond Island, MI: Michipicoten arrived Tuesday at 13:42 to load limestone and departed at 13:59 Wednesday for Sombra.
Bruce Mines, ON: Saginaw departed Tuesday at 1:53 for the Saginaw River; Manitoulin arrived to load trap rock at 5:42 and left 12 hours later for Toledo.
Meldrum Bay, ON: Interlake Steamship’s Kaye E. Barker departed for Marquette Tuesday at 00:38. Whitefish Bay arrived Wednesday at 12:37 to load limestone, and Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson went to anchor an hour later to wait their turn at the dock.
McGregor Bay, ON: At 22:59 Tuesday, Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived at the Lafarge Whitefish River Terminal to unload cement. 

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Saltie Fivelborg is at the elevators, with John D. Leitch the next vessel due in port for salt at Compass Minerals. 

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
With a load of taconite from the Tilden Mine near Marquette, Herbert C. Jackson arrived at 08:00 and maneuvered up the River Rouge to unload at Dearborn Works. Fellow Interlake vessel Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder were inbound Detroit at 13:32 for Mistersky fuels. Both fleetmates departed the Detroit River for Michigan ports shortly after 17:00, the Dorothy Ann upbound for Belle River and the Jackson downbound for Monroe. In the meantime, Federal Churchill departed her berth at Nicholson and sailed upbound for Chicago. Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II cast off from the St. Marys facility and set sail for Hamilton around 17:52, while Harvest Spirit left ADM across the river in Windsor shortly after and followed the tug/barge combo downbound for Sandusky. Algoma Sault was in port to fuel at Mistersky from 19:05 to 22:28; G.L. Ostrander/Integrity promptly took her place at the station after the Sault continued upbound for Goderich.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Herbert C. Jackson arrived from Detroit at 20:02.
Toledo, OH: Arrivals were Florence Spirit and Manitoulin; Algoma Sault was the lone departure.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder departed at 04:13.
Sandusky, OH: CSL Niagara left for Hamilton at 15:46. Harvest Spirit arrived at 17:19 to load coal.
Cleveland, OH: G.L. Ostrander/Integrity arrived late Tuesday night to unload at Lafarge. The tug/barge combo was outbound for Alpena at 13:44. Algoma Buffalo departed at 08:33 with salt for Johnstown.
Nanticoke, ON: Algonova departed for Sarnia at 20:09. Fleetmate Algonorth was a late night arrival for Imperial Oil. 

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
In an unusual visit by an American-flagged vessel, John J. Boland arrived for ArcelorMittal to load slag at 02:35. Captain Henry Jackman was outbound empty for Thunder Bay after unloading ore at the same dock. Saltie Rodopi made her way into the harbor at 10:54 to unload gypsum at Federal Marine Terminals 12 West; Damia Desgagnes departed at 11:48 for Montreal, Quebec after an extended layup; and Federal Baltic followed her outbound at 15:54 for Cleveland. Her sister Federal Beaufort weighed anchor and took her place unloading steel at Federal Marine Terminals 14 West. Tundra is still unloading urea at Agrico, while Shoveler waits alone at anchor.
