Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Lower Lakes Towing’s hybrid laker Manitoulin pulled away from BNSF Dock 5 in Superior, departing the Wisconsin side of the harbor at 00:35 for the Soo. The anchored Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader got underway and arrived the Superior piers 30 minutes later. As the pair made their way to the dock, CSL Tadoussac arrived off the lake and went on the hook outside Wisconsin Point. Vessel traffic on the Duluth side of the harbor would not begin until mid-afternoon, with the American Mariner arriving at 14:42 with a cargo of limestone from Calcite for Graymont Superior. After unloading, she is scheduled to make a rare trip to Thunder Bay. At 16:36, Duluth greeted the inbound saltie Miena Desgagnés in an uncommon visit by a member of the Groupe Desgagnés fleet. She is currently being operated by BBC Chartering. The colorful vessel tied up at Clure Public Marine Terminal Berth 1 with the help of G-tug Arkansas to offload a cargo of 111 wind turbine components from Bremen, Germany. This process will likely take several days. In Superior, Allouez Bay saw its second twofer of the day when Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader departed at 16:45 and CSL Tadoussac arrived to take their place at 17:14. While the Clyde and her barge are carrying 35,000 tons of Hibtac pellets for Toledo, the Tadoussac will be taking on a load of Keetac product. Hon. James L. Oberstar was inbound Duluth at 17:22 with dolomite loaded at Port Dolomite for CN-Hallett Dock 5. This has become a regular trip for her this year, delighting Twin Ports boatwatchers.

Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Whitefish Bay arrived Two Harbors on 06/12 at 13:49. She arrived stern first from the lake, turned off dock #2 and went bow first into South of #2. She is loading for Quebec City. Due Two Harbors is the Edwin H. Gott. At 17:45 on 06/12 she is approx. 30 miles ENE of Outer Island. Due Two Harbors on 06/13 is the Radcliffe R. Latimer. She is coming from Charlevoix, MI.

Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
This past week, the cruise ship Ocean Navigator visited the lower harbor while the Kaye Barker and Lee Tregurtha visited the ore dock in the upper harbor. This morning, the American Spirit is scheduled for a visit to the ore dock.

Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Alpena steamed up the Calumet River from Lafarge late on Saturday night, clearing the breakwater for Lake Michigan at 00:52. She will be headed to her namesake port to load another batch of cement. Flevoborg remains at Iroquois.
Indiana Harbor, IN: Joseph L. Block departed Indiana Harbor West at 02:23 for Toledo, continuing the shuttling of excess cargo to other Cleveland-Cliffs facilities. Across the harbor, American Integrity is still tied up at Dock 7H since her arrival on June 8. Her fleetmate Walter J. McCarthy Jr. arrived off the piers to anchor at 17:00.
Gary, IN: Edgar B. Speer arrived on one engine to unload Minntac pellets at the U.S. Steel Gary Works.
Burns Harbor, IN: Federal Leda is at Metro Ports Burns Harbor.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Innovator cleared 05.03 Saturday upbound for Muskegon MI with salt. Algoma Sault arrived 08.01 Sunday loading at Compass Minerals. 11th apparence for Sault here this season.

Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
After arriving for fuel just before midnight, Spartan/Spartan II departed upbound for Ludington at 02:17. They would be succeeded at the Mistersky berth by CSL’s Atlantic Huron, arriving at 07:40 to fuel for the trip to Superior. The River Rouge saw a trio of vessels from 09:00-10:00 with the inbound Everlast/Norman McLeod taking the spot of the outbound Iver Bright at Marathon and Calumet maneuvering up the channel for Carmeuse Lime. Iver Bright is headed for Sarnia, and Calumet is delivering limestone loaded at Calcite. Atlantic Huron departed at 10:44, allowing the arriving James R. Barker to fuel before leaving for Superior at 16:00. Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41, inbound at 15:43, were next at Mistersky and continued downbound for Monroe at 19:35. Calumet also proceeded downbound to Lake Erie after departing for Marblehead at 22:18. Harvest Spirit remains at ADM; Ebroborg is anchored just behind her after arriving at 04:20. 

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: James R. Barker unloaded at DTE and departed for Duluth at 07:22. New York/Double Skin 509A is still in port. Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 was a late night arrival.
Toledo, OH: Algoma Transport remains at CSX.
Cleveland, OH: Peyton Lynn C is at the Port and Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement is at LaFarge/Holcim.
Fairport Harbor, OH: John J. Boland arrived at 15:10 with stone for Osborne.
Ashtabula, OH: The saltie Barnacle arrived at 01:16 and the crew at the Pinney dock will be unloading her cargo of titanium slag.
Erie, PA: Happy Rover arrived at 13:06.
Nanticoke, ON: CSL Niagara arrived at Stelco 17:46. Algoma Niagara and Frontenac were late night arrivals.  

Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Late-night traffic in Hamilton on Saturday night featured the inbound Federal Yujina arriving via the Burlington Canal at 23:20. Fednav’s bulker would anchor in the inner harbor in preparation for an eventual arrival the next day. On Sunday, Algoma Conveyor arrived in the dark of night to load grain at P&H around 03:30. SFL Weser departed for Lake Ontario at 05:57 to await further orders, and the Yukina made her way to ArcelorMittal Dofasco Berth 21 around 11:10. Though loaded with petroleum coke, the saltie tied up at the northern end of the slip for a potential lay-by. The port bid farewell to grain-laden Evans Spirit and empty Gaia Desgagnés at 12:04 and 16:43, respectively; the vessels are due next in Sorel and Sarnia. Algoma Harvester took the southern end of ArcelorMittal 21 when she arrived with ore at 19:53. Redhead is still at FMT 12 North discharging steel from South Korea, and Wicky Spirit is farther east at QSL for lay-up.
