Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
The first of three tug/barge combos to visit the Twin Ports on Tuesday, Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived at 05:48 to load at BNSF Dock 5 in Superior. In Duluth, Presque Isle was inbound at 07:26 for another delay at the Duluth Port Terminal. This time, she tied up at Berth 8 and Berth 9 across from the unloading Miena Desgagnés. At 19:31, the Great Lakes Trader, laden with 35,000 tons of Hibtac pellets, was pushed outbound Superior by the Joyce en route to Toledo. This cleared the way for CSL’s Atlantic Huron to proceed to the dock shortly after 20:00; she had briefly stopped outside the harbor to allow the VanEnkevort tug/barge space to maneuver. Another VanEnkevort unit, Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader, arrived Duluth at 23:47 with limestone for the C. Reiss dock down the St. Louis River. This appears to be a new trend for the company’s tug/barge combos this season.
