As of Wednesday night, the Great Republic is destined for Two Harbors to load taconite.
Marquette, MI (9/22) – Oggdo Bogdo
After waiting out for better conditions, the Hon. James L. Oberstar departed LS&I at 20:36, due next at Toledo. She will pass the upbound American Spirit on her way across the lake. Those two vessels are some of the most frequent visitors to Marquette this year. The Spirit should arrive on Friday.

The Hon. James L. Oberstar finished loading near the middle of the day, but has yet to depart due to conditions on Lake Superior. Ships on the western side are clinging to the North Shore to avoid strong winds in the middle of the lake. It is unclear when the Oberstar will leave, though some ships traveling upbound have started to use the standard routes again, suggesting it may be soon. Further ahead, the American Spirit will make yet another visit.
Muskegon, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
The Alpena will arrive very early in the morning on Friday, carrying cement as always. Local boatnerds will cross their fingers for a midday or later departure.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Saginaw cleared 07.45 Wednesday upbound. Tug Dorothy Ann with barge Pathfinder arrived 02.28 Wednesday loading at Compass Minerals, TBA’s 6th appearance here this season.
Monroe, MI: Meredith Ashton departed for Milwaukee at 19:34.
Toledo, OH: Departures were Algoma Transport for Hamilton, ON. and Federal Fraser for Montreal, PQ.
Marblehead, OH: Calumet is at Holcim loading stone.
Sandusky, OH: Kaye E. Barker departed late Wednesday night with coal for Green Bay, WI.
Cleveland, OH: American Courage departed at 05:54 for Thessalon.
Fairport Harbor, OH: Frontenac departed at 04:09 with salt for Johnstown, ON.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity departed at 02:15
Nanticoke, ON: Arthur M. Anderson arrived at Stelco at 08:03 to unload ore there. Once empty, she departed for Calcite at 15:36. Algoma Hansa has docked at Imperial Oil and Algonorth remains at anchor. The Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin was a late night arrival to Stelco.
Lake Erie Ports (9/21) – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: Meredith Ashton arrived Wednesdayafternoon.
Toledo, OH: Departures were Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger at 00:21 for Cleveland, Samuel de Champlain for Cleveland at 00:52, American Spirit for Marquette, MI at 03:49 and Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader at 13:12. Algoma Transport arrived at 04:02 to load at CSX. Federal Fraser is still at Kuhlman’s.
Marblehead, OH: Calumet left late Tuesday night for Ashtabula.
Sandusky, OH: Interlake’s Kaye E. Barker arrived at 02:07 to load coal at the Norfolk Southern dock.
Cleveland, OH: Federal Oshima was a late Tuesday night arrival to the Port. She berthed at dock 24E and will be unloading steel. NACC Capri left for Bath, ON at 03:37. Samuel de Champlain arrived at 08:57 and unloaded at Holcim Cement. The next cement carrier was Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arriving at 10:32 to unload at the St. Marys Columbus St. terminal. Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement is at the Jefferson St. facility. American Courage is on another shuttle for Cliffs. After a couple quick unloads, Samuel deChamplain/Innovation left for Detroit at 18:44 and Prentiss Brown/St. Marys departed for Charlevoix at 19:51.
Fairport Harbor, OH: Arriving at 06:02 was CSL’s Frontenac to load at Morton Salt.
Ashtabula, OH: American Mariner departed for Port Cartier, PQ at 09:07. Calumet arrived at 08:01 and unloaded stone at Sidley. Once empty she left at 15:32 for a return to Marblehead.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity arrived at 12:52 and unloaded ore at the P&C dock.
Nanticoke, ON: Algonorth arrived at 09:20 and anchored near fleetmate Algoma Hansa. Algonova departed at 15:19 with petroleum products for Sept Iles, PQ.
