Marquette, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
The Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader continues to sit at the LS&I dock, eclipsing the 24 hour mark. However, the wait is more than likely due to dangerous gusts on the lake, as the rest of the vessels on Superior are somewhat split between the shoreline traveling and regular routes.

St. Marys River – Know Your Ships
Two passenger vessels, Le Bellot (Ponant) and Ocean Voyager (American Queen Steamboat Co.) were in port Tuesday, with the former docked in the Canadian Soo and the latter on the Michigan side. This was the last visit of the season for the American Queen vessel, but Ponant has three more port calls here before mid-October. Stewart J. Cort was upbound at the locks mid-day on her first trip of the season, headed for Superior, WI, to load pellets.

Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The John Marshal shifted docks with her barge Lake Trader to the NFTA Buffalo Port Terminal Slip ‘A’ on the 25th around 2:45PM to wait out an oncoming storm system. They became the first commercial vessels to tie up inside the slip since 2004.

Vane Marine’s New York – DS509A arrived for the Suite Kote Terminal in Tonawanda at 7AM on the 26th. The Barker finished up her unload at CSI that afternoon but stayed weather bound while thunderstorms raged throughout the day and wind was driving big breakers over the Outer Harbor seawall. The crew had her situated about mid-channel with lines out to the wharf and the unloading boom saddled up that evening sitting out the rough stuff. The Ryba gang took the day off and their equipment was all nestled in at the Gateway Union Slip dock to ride it out.

September 27th was still stormy, but not half as bad as the previous few days so the boats were finally able to get it moving. Around 6AM the tug John Marshal shifted her barge Lake Trader back to the Gateway Metroport Main Dock from the Buffalo Port Terminal Slip ‘A’. Later that evening around 6PM, the Mark W. Barker backed out of the City Ship Canal without tugs, winded in the Outer Harbor, and departed for Brevort, MI to load sand again for Buffalo.

While we do not currently have daily write-ups for the following ports, their respective port authority websites post schedules of vessel traffic that are embedded below. Each schedule takes the form of a miniature webpage within a box – scroll with your cursor within the box (or slide your finger within the box on a mobile device) to move through the schedule as you would a normal webpage.
