Marquette, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
The Lake Guardian of the USEPA left at 09:26 after using the port as a temporary ‘home base’ as they traveled throughout Lake Superior. A much larger vessel, the Kaye E. Barker glided in at midnight with a load of stone from Port Inland. While not quite as common a sight on Lake Superior this year, the Barker still makes her way up at a reasonable rate to Marquette, enough to keep Boatnerds happy. Same goes for the Lee A. Tregurtha, which is up next. Further ahead is a rarer arrival in the Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader.
Grand Haven, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
No Sunday traffic, though the days ahead will feature the Herbert C. Jackson (once again, headed to Ferrysburg, MI and not Fernandina, Florida) plus the John G. Munson making her first appearance since 2019. Both will enter through the Grand Haven entry and unload in Ferrysburg.
Muskegon, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
Locals were treated to the arrival of the steamer Alpena on Sunday, unloading cement at Holcim per usual. She came from Milwaukee previously, as part of a string of unload sites after loading cement at her namesake, Alpena, MI. Viewers of her arrival got to see her in the daylight, though that will likely not be the case for the departure.
Bruce Mines, ON – Matthew Uthe
John G Munson outbound Bruce Mines Ontario with Trap Rock for Grand Haven, Michigan. This is the Munson first trip to Grand Haven since 2019.
