Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
West Duluth’s CN-Hallett Dock 5 began the morning in the company of two lakers in black-and-gray striped costume. While Arthur M. Anderson was filling her three giant cargo bags with some blast furnace trim “treats,” Great Republic opted for a “trick” routine instead, impressing by piling limestone ashore off her 250-foot self-unloading boom. The river-class vessel would leave her AAA fleetmate around 01:00 to head for the house next door, CN-owned Dock 6. Taconite candy flowed off the chutes into her holds until midmorning, when the Republic again shifted down the street to the shiploader to give the Anderson a chance for some sweets at the gravity dock.

Over 24 hours since the last Twin Ports passage, the arrival of the Great Republic early Saturday afternoon, the Republic herself would again pass through the Duluth Ship Canal at 13:42 Sunday. Her taconite cargo will be delivered to the blast furnaces at U.S. Steel’s Gary Works later this week. Rare Radcliffe R. Latimer returned for her second visit of the season at 19:23 to load petroleum coke off the stockpile at SMET. Next at the dock will be Mark W. Barker, still sitting at Fraser Shipyards as of Sunday night unloading her cargo of steel bars.

Marquette, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
Victory/Maumee finished another visit on Sunday, departing the docks at 05:38 to head to Toledo. The Hon. James L. Oberstar will be arriving with stone in a few days.

St. Joseph – Benton Harbor, MI – Michael Moran
All stakeholders, including the three shipping docks, are working with the Corps of Engineers in an attempt to obtain critical emergency dredging.

The Harbor remains restricted to large commercial vessels until further notice. Any vessel arrivals will be scheduled to coincide with the best possible weather. At this time, we don’t know when the next vessel arrival will be, and arrivals will likely only be known roughly 24-36 hours in advance due to weather condition evaluations.

Muskegon, MI – Oggdo Bogdo
The Alpena steamed out in the middle of the night on Sunday, at 04:20. She is headed back to her namesake port to reload cement for another batch of deliveries.
