Port Reports – December 17, 2022

Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
Marquette Report for December 16th: A busy week of ship traffic at the ore dock in the upper harbor.  Since my last report, the following vessels visited the ore dock:

Wilfred Sykes
Lee Tregurtha
Manitowoc
Hon. James Oberstar

Due to severe weather here in the upper peninsula, ship traffic was halted for the past few days. Currently, the Herbert Jackson is enroute to Marquette and should arrive late Saturday evening or early Sunday morning.

Alpena, MI – Jason Luther
The classic steamer Alpena arrived this morning at 9:22 from Essexville to load cement at LaFarge. She then departed for Detroit at 14:04. Also arriving at LaFarge to unload product for the kilns was John J. Boland, at 14:40 from Sault Ste. Marie.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: James R. Barker departed for the Twin Ports of Duluth-Superior. After the Barker cleared, Paul R. Tregurtha docked at DTE with another load of low sulfur coal. Everlast/Norman MacLeod departed for Sarnia, ON.
Marblehead, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson departed with stone for Cleveland.
Cleveland, OH: New York/Double Skin 509A arrived early morning and proceeded to the Marathon terminal to unload asphalt. Next to arrive was Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement docking at the St. Marys Jefferson St. terminal to unload cement. Third in the arrival line was another ATB, the Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson combo with stone for RiverDock. Federal Dart and Qamutik, the last salties of the season here, are still at the Port. NACC Argonaut made her last visit to Cleveland this season. She’s still at Holcim Cement.  American Courage remains on the shuttles.
Ashtabula, OH: Spruceglen was a late night arrival. She brought in titanium slag to be unloaded at the Pinney Dock.
Nanticoke, OH: Federal Clyde is at Stelco loading steel. Algosea is loading at Imperial Oil.  Algoma Hansa is at anchor off of Port Dover.

Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
Calumet departed CSI around 11:45PM on the night of the 14th bound for Charlevoix, MI.
