St. Marys River – Joshua Hebeisen
Upbound from Sarnia, ON, with petroleum products, Canadian tanker Algocanada met USCGC Katmai Bay at Lime Island midmorning. The pair worked their way up the river to the Soo, with Algocanada proceeding to the Purvis Marine dock to unload around 12:45.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
With snow in the forecast, Algoma Intrepid arrived at 10:13 Thursday with more salt from Compass Minerals, Goderich. She proceeded to the inner harbor and tied up at the salt dock. This is the fourth delivery of 2023 from the Compass Minerals mine. Including this load, about 100,000 metric tons of salt has been received at Milwaukee’s port this year.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
USCGC Hollyhock departed U.S. Coast Guard Station Port Huron at 09:39 Thursday morning en route to Detroit, MI, making a quick stop downriver at Marysville, MI, on the way. Algonova is still at the Imperial Oil lower dock; Iver Bright remains at Suncor but did shift berths earlier in the day. Both tankers are presumably awaiting next orders.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Icebreaker turnover continued on the Detroit River, with CCGS Griffon casting off from the Dieppe Gardens at 09:00 destined for the Canadian Coast Guard Amherstburg Base. USCGC Hollyhock was inbound at 17:37 to fill the coastie void, tying up on the U.S. side of the river near the Detroit/Wayne County Port Authority dock.
