Leonard M/Huron Spirit remain at Sault Ste. Marie, ON, loading steel coils at Purvis Marine. Farther down the river, USCGC Mobile Bay left her Lime Island moorings at 08:00 for a trip to St. Ignace, MI.
St. Ignace, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
USCGC Mobile Bay arrived U.S. Coast Guard Station St. Ignace minutes before noon.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
AlgoCanada arrived at 08:15 Wednesday and tied up briefly at the Liquid Cargo Pier to change crew members. She then pulled away and spent the afternoon in the outer harbor just beyond the pier.
St. Joseph – Benton Harbor, MI – Michael Moran
Happy Survey Day everyone!!! On Wednesday, our friends at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Detroit District Grand Haven Office started the survey of the harbor! Survey 3058, a repurposed 25’ Defender Class Response Boat-Small acquired from the Coast Guard takes careful measurements and soundings of the water depth as they follow a pre-determined pattern in the harbor. This is normally a multi-day process.
We want to thank our friends at the Corps for starting the process so early. Early survey means early knowledge of what dredging is needed and an earlier start to getting the harbor fully ready for shipping season!

Algoma Innovator loading at Compass Minerals. Algoma Conveyor arrived 07:58 Wednesday and tied up at the North pier to load salt next.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Sarnia received a triple feature of Algoma Tankers tankers on Wednesday morning, beginning with both Algosea and Algoterra leaving Imperial Oil for Nanticoke, ON, around 07:00. Downbound Algonova provided an encore at 09:16, returning to the lower dock after a trip to Milwaukee, WI. Iver Bright craned her neck watching the show from down the river at Suncor.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Just after midnight, Leo A. McArthur/John J. Carrick cast off from what appeared to be Marathon’s River Rouge terminal and snuck back across international lines in the cover of darkness. The pair is once again tied up at their lay-up berth at Sterling Fuels. Later in the morning, USCGCs Morro Bay and Bristol Bay made a well-coordinated Detroit departure at 08:06. Morro headed back down for Cleveland, OH, from her moorings at the Renaissance Center, while Bristol left U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit for an upbound trip to the St. Marys. CCGS Griffon arrived the Dieppe Gardens to fill the Coast Guard void around 15:00.
Amherstburg, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
CCGS Griffon departed the Canadian Coast Guard Amherstburg base at 13:28, leaving oversized tug CCGS Judy LaMarsh by herself at the dock.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Malcolm Marine tug Manitou departed Erie, PA. Her AIS is not updated with a destination. Harvest Spirit finished her unload in Monroe, MI and left for Windsor, ON. Algoma tankers Algosea and Algoterra have departed Sarnia and headed to Nanticoke.
