St. Marys River – Joshua Hebeisen
Casting off from Purvis Marine around 08:00 Saturday, Leonard M/Huron Spirit began the southbound trek through an icy St. Marys River. USCGC Bristol Bay met the pair farther down the river to assist. McKeil’s tug/barge combo has not yet updated their AIS destination, but are headed down Lake Huron as of Saturday night with a presumed cargo of steel coils. Bristol, on her part, tied up at Coast Guard Station Sault Ste. Marie shortly after 17:00.

USCGC Mobile Bay departed at 07:49 for Sturgeon Bay, WI.

Indiana Harbor was floated up and out of dry dock on Saturday following a five-year survey but no new paint. Local tugs pulled her to a nearby berth, where the footer is currently sandwiched between fleetmate Walter J. McCarthy Jr. and the idled steamer Cason J. Callaway. Word on the waterfront is that Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader will be next in the dry dock to receive an updated coat of VanEnkevort red and cream.
Across the channel, USCGC Mobile Bay arrived at 07:49 from St. Ignace, MI.
Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Canadian Coast Guard vessels Samuel Risley and Judy LaMarsh were hard at work breaking ice in the area on Saturday.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Innovator cleared 04:53 Friday upbound for Chicago with salt. Algoma Conveyor loading at Compass Minerals. Goderich hosted 232 vessels last season… 223 thus far with Algoma Conveyor here.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
An upbound Algosea made port at 15:29 following a trip to Nanticoke, ON. Initially tying up at the specialty products dock, she soon shifted down to the lower dock with the help of tug Welland. Iver Bright scooted into Suncor just before midnight after delivering product to Detroit, MI.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Iver Bright cleared the Detroit River at 19:02 after spending the day in the Rouge. New York/Double Skin 509A went to anchor off Windsor Salt at around 21:45; the pair had departed lay-up in Monroe, MI, just hours before.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Departing Cleveland were the tug John Francis for Sandusky and the Coast Guard cutter Neah Bay for Detroit. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder is loading another shuttle for Cliffs. Algosea departed Imperial Oil with petroleum products for Sarnia. Algoterra weighed anchor and is at the dock at Imperial Oil while fleetmate Algonova arrived from Sarnia and went on the hook off of Port Dover. A late arrival was Harvest Spirit, returning to load steel coils at Stelco.
