Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Round two! USCGC Spar was back at it again on Wednesday with another 5-hour icebreaking shift in the harbor. She left the Coast Guard berth at 09:15 before returning at 14:15. As on Monday, the cutter blazed a trail all the way down to Allouez Bay, but this expedition saw her give a little extra care to Rice’s Point and the nearby port terminal berths.

St. Marys River – Joshua Hebeisen
Wednesday would be the busiest day yet for ice ops on the St. Marys River. At 08:00, USCGC Katmai Bay and sister USCGC Bristol Bay left the Lime Island vicinity to break ice from Neebish Island all the way to De Tour, MI. Two hours later and to the north, CCGS Judy LaMarsh and USCGC Mackinaw left their respective berths from opposite sides of the Soo and ventured down the river’s upbound passage not far apart. LaMarsh would head back up at the end of the day, returning at 18:42, while Mackinaw, Katmai, and Bristol had a rendezvous south of Lime to end the night.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas

Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algosea finally cast away from the lower dock at 07:27 Wednesday morning following a looong stay at Imperial Oil. She is currently racing downbound for Nanticoke, ON, along with fleetmate Algocanada — one of them is going to have to wait. USCGC Hollyhock departed from across the river at 14:15 bound for the Coastie party in the St. Marys River. Algoterra remains at the lower dock and Iver Bright at Suncor.

Harvest Spirit finished her unload in Cleveland and departed with the remaining steel coils in her holds destined for Monroe, MI.
