St. Marys River – Joshua Hebeisen
USCGC Katmai Bay departed the Soo at 06:32 to break ice in the lower St. Marys River, soon to be joined by sisters USCGC Morro Bay and USCGC Biscayne Bay. The tugboat trio would later tie up to spend the night together at Lime Island.
Though not scheduled to arrive for a month, saltie Rodopi has notably set her AIS destination for Sault Ste. Marie, ON, after departing Campana, Argentina. A sure sign of spring!
St. Ignace, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
USCGC Biscayne Bay departed the Coast Guard station at 08:16 to lend a helping hand on the St. Marys River. Anchored across the peninsula in West Moran Bay (no relation to everybody’s favorite St. Joughnuts Harbormaster), nearby USCGC Neah Bay set sail to the west.
Cheboygan, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
U.S. Coast Guard activity on Lake Michigan continued into the evening with head of the fleet USCGC Mackinaw departing her berth in Cheboygan at 19:06. She will be joining USCGC Neah Bay in cleaning up an icy Green Bay for downbound tanker Algocanada. The latter is currently anchored off of Manistique, MI, as of Monday night.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algonova departed the lower dock at 06:34 for Nanticoke, ON. Waiting fleetmate Algosea was inbound from the anchorage 30 minutes later to take her friend’s place at Imperial Oil.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
New York/Double Skin 509A departed at 23:03 after finishing up at Marathon on the River Rouge. The pair will next be visiting Uncle Sam at Monroe, MI.
Amherstburg, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
CCGS Griffon left her berth just after 10:00 with an AIS destination of Port Colborne, ON.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Algoterra arrived at Imperial Oil. Fleetmate Algonova will arrive on Tuesday. CCG Griffon is crossing Lake Erie on her way to Port Colborne. Tug Don Raul, chartered by the Corps of Engineers, was out in Lake Erie for sea trials after being refurbished at the Great Lakes Shipyard in Cleveland.
