Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
The Algoma Discovery arrived Two Harbors at 22:35 on 4/14 and departed for Hamilton on 4/15 at 11:58. The Joseph L. Block arrived Two Harbors at 4/14 at 09:52 and departed at 21:24 for Indiana Harbor. The CSL Niagara arrived Two Harbors from the Lake on 12:25 for the Shiploader. On 4/15 at 18:00 the John G. Munson was still at either N. of #2 or S. of #1 for layby. And on 4/15 it looked like the Edwin H. Gott was either heading for the South Shore or off the Twin Ports to wait on Two Harbors.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
The only traffic on Saturday was the arrival and subsequent departure of the Lee A. Tregurtha. The process only took around 7.5 hours, starting at 13:15 and ending at 20:40. The LAT has been one of, if not the most frequent visitor so far, matched only by her fleetmate and upcoming Sunday’s visitor Kaye E. Barker.
St. Joseph – Benton Harbor, MI – Michael Moran
The G.L. Ostrander and barge Integrity arrived to discharge cement and slag at Holcim. The pair received the traditional Red Coach Donuts as well as hardhat stickers. The new St. Joughnuts flag made its debut as well. The pair is expected to depart around 01:00 on the 16th.
Saginaw River, MI – Ben Ochten
The Sam Laud arrived today and headed toward Saginaw beneath the Zilwaukee Bridge. She eventually stopped at the Wirt Stone Dock to unload.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: New York/Double Skin 509A is unloading liquid asphalt.
Toledo, OH: Edgar B Speer is at CSX. Departures were John J. Boland with coal for Charlevoix and Samuel de Champlain empty for Alpena, MI. Saginaw was a late night arrival.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder arrived to load at Holcim.
Cleveland, OH: Algoma Innovator arrived to load salt at Cargill. Swapping roles, American Courage is unloading at Osborne and will resume the shuttles. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder, finished with a shuttle, departed for Marblehead.
Fairport Harbor, OH: Cuyahoga loaded salt and left for Parry Sound, ON. Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson unloaded stone at Osborne, then left for Marblehead.
Conneaut, OH: Indiana Harbor unloaded ore at the P&C dock and departed for Two Harbors.
Nanticoke, ON: At Stelco, Harvest Spirit is loading while Presque Isle departed for Two Harbors and CSL’s Baie Comeau arrived with ore. At Imperial Oil, Mia Desgagnes and Algonova are loading. Algoterra is anchored.
Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The firetug Edward M Cotter was called out to battle a brush fire along the rocky shore line of the CRH cement terminal in Buffalo’s Outer Harbor around 12 Noon today. BFD trucks couldn’t reach the remote and undeveloped area that was burning but the Cotter had a perfect shot at it from the water. She made quick work of the fire & knocked it down in a few minutes. The Coast Guard sent a boat down to assist and they were all cleared up by 12:30.
