The Mark W. Barker arrived with the first load of sand for the season at 04:00 on May 13. She came up the City Ship Canal for the CSI landing without tugs and spent the day unloading all along the apron on either side of the drier building.

Around 16:00, the Barker was all done at CSI and backed out for the lake without tugs. Once the ship was clear of the Buffalo River, she pointed her stern North in the Outer Harbor, winded with the thrusters, and departed for Cleveland. Later that evening the Vermont went out to meet the NACC Alicudi and towed them up to Holcim cement stern first at 20:00.
