Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry
Ocean-going vessel Patagonman arrived in Duluth at 07:13 (Central) Monday morning to load wheat at Riverland Ag. James R. Barker departed at 18:27 that same day with iron ore pellets for Cleveland. Viking Octantis arrived at 06:31 Tuesday morning to spend the day in port. American Century arrived at 08:49 to first fuel, then load iron ore pellets at CN#6. Steamer Philip R. Clarke arrived at 14:39 that day to unload limestone at C. Reiss. Viking Octantis departed at 18:21 for Mackinac Island. Philip R. Clarke departed at 03:01 empty Wednesday morning for Two Harbors. Paul R. Tregurtha arrived at 08:02 to load coal at SMET, and American Century departed soon after at 08:37 with iron ore pellets for Indiana Harbor. Ocean-going Patagonman departed at 14:37 with wheat for Italy. Steamer Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 20:12 Wednesday night to unload limestone at CN-Hallett #5; they passed the Paul R. Tregurtha, which departed soon after at 20:48 with coal. Taiga Desgagnes arrived at 23:29 with wind turbine parts for Port Terminal. Arthur M. Anderson departed at 20:31 Thursday evening with iron ore pellets for Gary. Taiga Desgagnes departed at 22:38 that same evening. Aujaq arrived at 08:49 Friday morning with cargo for Port Terminal, which included a giant mining shovel bucket. Great Republic arrived at 13:45 with limestone for CN-Hallett #5. Finally, Aujaq departed at 20:37 for Montreal.
As of Friday night, Great Republic had recently departed CN-Hallett #5 for Two Harbors, and Mesabi Miner was about to arrive to load at CN#6. Mesabi Miner will arrive before Great Republic departes Friday night. Joseph L. Block is expected Saturday early afternoon carrying limestone for CN-Hallett #5. Michipicoten is also due early afternoon, but to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.
Superior Entry
G.L. Ostrander departed empty at 07:45 (Central) Monday morning for Alpena. Atlantic Huron departed at 17:41 that evening with iron ore pellets for Nanticoke; American Integrity arrived soon after to load at BNSF. The Integrity didn’t depart with their cargo of iron ore until 13:29 Tuesday afternoon. John D. Leitch was next to load, arriving at 13:44; they departed at 06:22 Wednesday morning. Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin arrived at 07:00 to load next at BNSF. When the Martin departed at 00:12 Thursday morning, Joyce L. VanEnkevort arrived at 00:32 to load iron ore. The Joyce departed at 17:26 with iron ore pellets for Toledo, and Stewart J. Cort arrived at 18:05 to load next.
As of Friday night, Stewart J. Cort was still loading at BNSF while Frontenac, Captain Henry Jackman, and Oakglen waited outside the entry. Stewart J. Cort is estimated to depart early Saturday, and Frontenac will be loading next followed by the Jackman.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Manitoulin arrived Silver Bay to load pellets.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
After a relatively quiet two weeks at Milwaukee’s port, Algoma Innovator arrived at 21:06 Thursday with salt from Compass Minerals, Goderich. After dropping part of her cargo at the Kinder Morgan Bagging plant, she moved to the inner harbor Friday morning to fill the north salt dome. Federal Frontier arrived from Burns Harbor at 01:52 Friday and backed into south slip one, outer harbor, and tied up at the Federal Marine Terminals dock. She carries steel from Antwerp. Viking Octantis arrived at 05:02 Friday and backed to the Heavy Lift Dock concluding an eight-day cruise from Thunder Bay. She will embark on an eight-day cruise to Toronto Saturday afternoon. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder is expected Friday evening with deicing salt from Cargill, Cleveland. Ocean Navigator will arrive Saturday morning concluding a sixteen-day roundtrip cruise out of Chicago – passengers are bussed between Chicago and Milwaukee. She will depart Saturday evening on another Chicago roundtrip.
Saginaw River – Todd Shorkey
Sam Laud was inbound on the Saginaw River for the Port Fisher/Bay Aggregates Dock on June 15.
Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
The American Mariner backed down from the Frontier Elevator unassisted at 09:00 for the lake. She winded in the Outer Harbor with the thrusters and departed about a half hour later.
The Canadian Coast Guard buoy tender Cove Isle was working the upper Niagara River and Lake Erie on Friday morning.
