CSL Welland is loading at the Two Harbors shiploader. James R. Barker is Eastbound on Lake Superior for Indiana Harbor.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
The Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader are upbound Whitefish Bay for Cliffs North Shore Mining in Silver Bay.
Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Frontenac brought forth the first of August with a late morning arrival for Viterra A. Heading inbound the piers at 11:18, Fronty and her sexy self-unloader would take on a quick load of grain before setting out for Midland, ON, at 21:31. Mottler arrived at 18:29 for MobilEx, and with Tundra departing Thunder Bay Terminals for Brazil at 19:02, Barnacle would bob her way in minutes later to take her place.
Five Fednav fleetmates would account for the rest of the boats in port. Federals Cedar, Kumano, Oshima, Montreal, and Frontier are at Keefer Terminal, P&H, anchor, anchor, and anchor, respectively.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
Joseph L. Block shifted over to load ore at about 06:00, having previously been unloading sinter from Silver Bay in the lower harbor. Meanwhile, Hon. James L. Oberstar arrived at 06:31 only to anchor outside the docks. A similar situation occurred just a day or two ago, so the southern dock must be unavailable for the time being.
Drummond Island, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Michipicoten arrived for Drummond Dolomite at 08:06, heading back up the way she came at 19:48 to unload at the Soo.
Port Dolomite, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Defiance/Ashtabula departed for Buffington Harbor, IN, at 03:40. American Courage arrived to load next at 23:31.
Port Inland, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Obviously trying to sabotage the Port Reports, American Mariner departed at 06:09 with an un-updated AIS. The 730-foot freighter was downbound on Lake Huron as of Tuesday night.
Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Thousand foot giant American Century lumbered into Muskegon once again on Tuesday at 09:53, bringing stone from Meldrum Bay to unload at Cobb Verplank. She is one of a couple footers to make this run in the past few years, made possible by the larger size of the Cobb Verplank dock vs the lakeside Verplank dock. Meanwhile, Herbert C. Jackson is currently loading at Meldrum Bay, and will likely bring a load of that stone (smaller than the Century’s) to Muskegon in the coming days.
Stoneport, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
John J. Boland was in port from 04:30 to 18:30 while taking on stone for the Saginaw River.
Port Gypsum, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
Sam Laud cleared at 16:15 for Port Inland, MI, presumably to take on the second half of a split load.
Bruce Mines, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Olive L. Moore/Menominee chugged in just as the clock struck midnight, getting August off to a productive start with an 11-hour load for the Saginaw River. As usual, the pair projects to unload at both Bay City, MI, and Saginaw, MI, before heading back to Lake Huron for more.
Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
H. Lee White departed at 03:15 for Marysville, MI. Herbert C. Jackson slipped in at 20:15 to load for Muskegon, MI.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Compass cleared 06:56 Monday upbound for Green Bay, WI, with salt. Algoma Innovator cleared 23:53 Monday upbound for Ferrysburg with salt. Goderich hosted 79 lake boats thus far this season.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
The Motor City was raided by Vikings on Tuesday afternoon (which happens once during football season anyway) as two giant longships cruised in at 11:00, releasing their armies of tourists ashore for a day in Detroit. Sleek sisters Viking Polaris and Viking Octantis have each been to town many times before, but this visit would see the Viking duo in port at the same time after chasing one another down the St. Clair River early in the morning. Their paired presence meant that Polaris went to Nicholson Detroit for the day while Octantis tied up at the usual Levin facility. Giving a hearty salute to her fleetmate as she left, the latter would depart for Point Pelee at 19:46. Polaris hung out for a little while longer before clearing at 23:39 for Cleveland, OH.

Wilfred Sykes is at the Cliffs HBI plant, Victory/Maumee is at CSX and Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader is at Ironville. Radcliffe R. Latimer departed for Sydney, NS.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder left with stone for Lorain.

Kaye E. Barker departed with coal for Zug Island.

Departures were American Integrity to Superior, WI, Bradshaw McKee/St. Marys Conquest to Charlevoix, MI, Robert S. Pierson to Port Colborne, ON, and New York/Double Skin 509A to Monroe, MI. Petite Forte/St. Marys Cement is at Holcim. Imke, Meredith Ashton, and Manitou are still at the Port docks working on the heavy lift cargo for Cliffs. Arrivals were Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder to load a shuttle at the Bulk Terminal, Mark W. Barker with stone for Osborne, Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II to the St. Marys Jefferson St. terminal with cement and Polsteam’s Narie with steel coils for the Port, Dock 24W.
Fairport Harbor, OH – Bill Kloss
CSL Tadoussac is at anchor in Lake Erie. She will be loading salt at Morton.

Algotitan departed to Port Weller.
