Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry
Michipicoten arrived at 07:22 (Central) Saturday morning to fuel at the Cenovus dock before loading iron ore at CN#6. American Century departed at 08:01 that same morning with low-sulfur coal for DTE plants at Belle River and Monroe. Michipicoten departed at 16:55 with Minntac pellets for Algoma Steel. Paul R. Tregurtha was the last traffic for Saturday, arriving at 23:14 to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.
Manitoulin arrived early Sunday at 03:59 to unload grain from Thunder Bay at General Mills Elevators S&X. Steamer Philip R. Clarke arrived at 10:10 to unload sugar stone at the C. Reiss dock.
Michipicoten returned at 02:11 Tuesday morning for another load of iron ore at CN#6. Mesabi Miner arrived at 09:44 that same morning to also load at CN. Edenborg finally departed at 20:35 Tuesday evening with beet pulp pellets for Ireland. Finally, Mesabi Miner departed at 23:26 with Mustang pellets for Indiana Harbor
Superior Entry
Andrie tug-barge unit G.L. Ostrander and Integrity departed empty at 16:33 (Central) Friday evening for Alpena. Late Friday into early Saturday was very busy for the Superior Entry! Walter J. McCarthy Jr. arrived at 23:45 Friday evening for repairs at Lakehead Pipeline. Edenborg arrived at 01:34 Saturday morning to load beet pulp pellets at Viterra. Baie Comeau departed at 02:32 with Hibtac pellets for Nanticoke. Whitefish Bay finished off the early morning action when they arrived at 02:56 to load next at BNSF.
Whitefish Bay didn’t depart Superior until 14:57 Sunday afternoon; they departed with high-concentration Hibtac pellets for Quebec City. Atlantic Huron arrived at 15:26 to load at BNSF; they departed at 08:23 Monday morning for Nanticoke.
American Integrity arrived at 09:28 for a long load, and they departed the next day (Tuesday) at 10:56 with Keetac pellets for Gary Works. Finally, Algoma Guardian arrived at 22:30 to load iron ore at BNSF.
Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
As of 18:00 on Thursday night, the Edwin H. Gott is loading at the Two Harbors shiploader. The Walter J. McCarthy Jr. is at the Lakehead Dock in Superior and is supposed to go to Two Harbors to load.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
After unloading stone in the Twin Ports the Joseph L. Block proceeded to Silver Bay to load pellets. Lee A. Tregurtha departed after a rare visit.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
On Tuesday, Marquette’s favorite thousand footer American Spirit arrived at 09:05. While she occupied the northern dock and loaded ore, Interlake’s Lee A. Tregurtha slipped into the opposite slot to unload stone at 20:12. That configuration would last until the morning when the LAT departed at 09:29… for Silver Bay, of all places. It’s the first trip west of Marquette for the Tregurtha since she came out of winter layup at the Twin Ports, and her first trip to Silver Bay since 2020. Meanwhile, the American Spirit continued a typical extended stay until Thursday, departing at 02:22 for Toledo.
Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Alpena departed at 10:54 on Tuesday, headed back to her namesake port as per usual. After her departure, Muskegon has been rather quiet, as have a few adjacent ports.
Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss
Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 returned to the Port dock.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
Departures were Paul R. Tregurtha to Superior, WI, Herbert C. Jackson to Burns Harbor, and Blair McKeil to Marinette, WI.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
American Courage is loading stone at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH – Bill Kloss
CSL Niagara loaded coal at Norfolk Southern and departed to Nanticoke. Kaye E. Barker was next to move under the loader.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
Departing were American Courage to Marblehead after unloading at Ontario Stone, Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger to Charlevoix, MI, Sharon M1/Huron Spirit to Calcite, State of Michigan to Port Huron, and Beatrix to Chicago. Mark W. Barker unloaded at RiverDock, backed out of the river, turned in the harbor, and then reversed into the river to load road salt at Cargill. This was due to the position of the old channel of the river and the layout of the dock at Cargill. Arriving was New York/Double Skin 509A with liquid asphalt for Marathon, Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II to unload at the St. Marys Jefferson St. terminal and Calumet with stone.
Grand River, OH – Fairport Harbor, OH – Bill Kloss
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader arrived with limestone for Osborne.
Conneaut, OH – Bill Kloss
John J. Boland unloaded at the P&C Dock then left with a destination of Marblehead.
Nanticoke, ON – Bill Kloss
Algoterra departed with petroleum products for Tracy, PQ. Fleetmate Algoberta arrived and anchored off of Port Dover. Atlantic Huron delivered ore to Stelco.
