Maritime museum on Lake Michigan shoreline offers interactive exhibits for all ages
LUDINGTON, MI – A maritime museum on the shore of Lake Michigan takes visitors on a journey around the Great Lakes, exploring shipwrecks, piloting a car ferry, testing their strength against a manpowered steamship wheel and hearing stories from long-passed ship captains.
The Port of Ludington Maritime Museum in Ludington offers three levels of interactive and informative exhibits for all ages set in a former U.S. Coast Guard station built in 1934. The current USCG Ludington Station is next door.
“You don’t often find a museum of this caliber in this small of a community,” said Rebecca Berringer, executive director of the Mason County Historical Society.
