Two vessels vie for last ship at the Soo Locks

Sault Ste. Marie, MI – The Soo Locks will close today with either American Spirit upbound or
Philip R. Clarke. Watch this page for updates. Edwin H. Gott and Great Republic were
downbound on a cold but sunny Monday. Still anchored above the locks waiting for weatherMonday were Arthur M. Anderson, John G. Munson and Paul R. Tregurtha. John J. Boland was
at Algoma Steel. Once they are able to proceed, they will head for Duluth/Superior to lay up for
the winter. Indiana Harbor was hugging the Michigan shore downbound Monday evening and
will be the next-to-last downbounder.
