Tugs return home, Tim S Dool awaits next Salvage attempt
Three Groupe Ocean tugs have abandoned their efforts to pull Tim S. Dool from her strand on Crysler Island Shoal, and as of Friday evening were heading back home to Montreal and Quebec City. Next steps remain unconfirmed, but may include removal of some of the vessel’s grain cargo. The Dool ran aground near Morrisburg, ON, Nov. 23. The reason for the grounding remains unknown.

the Daniel J. Morrell has its own tragic story
Among the most famous wrecks is the Edmund Fitzgerald, which went down in a fierce November gale on Lake Superior in 1975. But nine years earlier, the Daniel J. Morrell sank on Lake Huron on Nov. 29 in near-hurricane strength winds with only one survivor.
The Daniel J. Morrell, a 603-foot freighter broke in two during a large storm on Lake Huron off the coast of Port Hope on Nov. 29, 1966. The freighter encountered 35-foot waves, snow and winds at 51 mph with gusts up to 66 mph.
