Algosea (3)

Algosea was built in 1998 by Alabama Shipyard of Mobile, Alabama, as Aggersborg for Dannenborg Rederi A/S (Borg Tankers Ltd.), of Norway, registered in Bermuda. She is 472′ 07″ long, 75′ 04″ wide, and 40′ 08″ deep, capable of carrying 17,258 tons deadweight at her mid-summer draft of 29′. She is powered by a single Wartsila 6L46A 8445 BHP diesel engine.

Aggersborg was purchased by Algoma Tankers in 2005 and renamed Algosea {3}. She was reflagged Canadian and joined Algoma’s domestic tanker fleet, primarily serving the refineries in the Sarnia, Ontario area.

In November 2023 she was sold to McKeil Marine Ltd. and renamed Kathy McKeil after the wife of company founder Blair McKeil. She left for China shortly thereafter to be converted to a Great Lakes/Seaway bulk carrier.
