Icebreaker Assisting Vessels Through Icy Detroit River
TUESDAY AFTERNOON UPDATE:Traffic was moving normally after the upbound Olive L. Moore & barge Menominee were freed from the ice so dowbound vessels could proceed.

TUESDAY MORNING UPDATE: USCG cutters Bristol Bay and Neah Bay had joined the the Risley which was above Amherstburg leading the Moore/Menominee upbound.John D. Leitch has joined the list of vessels waiting to go down once the way is clear, with Ashtabula/Defiance moving downbound in Lake St. Clair on a slow bell.
ORIGINAL REPORT: Icebreaker CCGS Samuel Risley was working hard Monday night on the Detroit River to clear the ice between the Livingstone to the South East Shoal (Amherstburg to Point Pelee). She was  assisting upbound Olive L. Moore & barge Menominee, and once they are clear, a convoy of ships will be assisted downbound starting with Algoma Equinox, Strandja, Federal Kushiro and Algoma Hansa. The latter is bound for Sorel, QC, and may be on her final voyage with Algoma fleet.
