Frontenac sails from lay up; other vessels fighting ice

    On Sunday, Frontenac left lay up at Port Colborne headed west to Windsor. She is filling in for the Whitefish Bayfor two or perhaps more salt runs. Whitefish Bay incurred bow damage while docking at Windsor Jan. 20. USCG Bristol Bay was escorting her.
   Also on Sunday, Calumet left Detroit’s ice-choked Rouge River headed for Erie, PA, with CCGS Vincent Massey escorting her across Lake Erie. Tankers Baltie and Algoberta were eastbound in northern Lake Huron after passing through the Straits with icebreaker assistance, while Algonova was stuck or hove to off Washington Island in northern Lake Michigan.
   USCG Mackinaw has arrived back at her home port of Cheboygan, MI, from Sault Ste. Marie.
   Wilfred Sykes arrived for winter lay up at Milwaukee Jan 24.
