Algosea
Algosea was built in 1998 by Alabama Shipyard of Mobile, Alabama, as Aggersborg for Dannenborg Rederi A/S (Borg Tankers Ltd.), of Norway, registered in Bermuda. She is 472′ 07″ long, 75′ 04″ wide, and 40′ 08″ deep, capable of carrying 17,258 tons deadweight at her mid-summer draft of 29′. She is powered by a single Wartsila 6L46A 8445 BHP diesel engine.
Aggersborg was purchased by Algoma Tankers in 2005 and renamed Algosea {3}. She was reflagged Canadian and joined Algoma’s domestic tanker fleet, primarily serving the refineries in the Sarnia, Ontario area. She can be seen frequently in the Sarnia area as well as the Welland Canal and St. Lawrence Seaway.
