CCGS A. LeBlanc

Canadian Coast Guard

CCGS A. LeBlanc is the seventh of nine “Hero-Class” midshore patrol vessels built by Irving Shipbuilding in Halifax, Nova Scotia, from 2012 to 2014. The primary mission of these vessels is to provide maritime security and fisheries enforcement off of Canada’s Atlantic and Pacific coasts, as well as security operations within the Great Lakes and St. Lawrence Seaway. They can also participate in marine search and rescue and pollution control operations.

The vessels are capable of missions lasting up to 14 days at sea, with a maximum speed of 25 knots and a range of 2,000 nautical miles at 14 knots.

This vessel was named after Agipit LeBlanc, a fisheries control officer who was murdered in the line of duty in 1926.
