Taiga Desgagnes was constructed in 2007 by Tianjin Xingang Shipyard of Tianjin, China as BBC Amazon for Briese Schiffahrts GMBH & Co. KG of Leer, Germany. She is 469′ 07″ long, 74′ 10″ wide, and 43′ 08″ deep, capable of carrying 12,936 tons, and equipped with three of 80 metric ton deck cranes. She is powered by a single B&W 6S46MC-C diesel engine, producing 9,482 BHP.

In 2017, she was acquired by the Groupe Desgagnes subsidiary Transport Desgagnes, and renamed Taiga Desgagnes. She continues to serve them in the Seaway general cargo trades.
