Monday was another unlucky day for shipping in Buffalo. New York/Double Skin 509A arrived around 08:00; they switched out of towing gear in the lake and came in to meet the Vermont at the northern entrance. They made it to the CN Harbor Draw around 09:30, when a problem with the bridge’s electrical signal circuits caused a delay. Vermont helped the New York ease the barge’s bow up to the center pier that the bridge sits on, and they remained there until 13:30, when a CN signal crew was finally able to get the bridge open. They made it to the Suite Kote dock in Tonawanda just as a big fog bank rolled in and obscured visibility around 14:30. Shortly after this took place, NACC Capri arrived for Holcim Cement on Ohio St. The captain decided to wait for the fog to lift and went to anchor off Lackawanna.
