Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
Following a delay at Lakehead Pipeline, Burns Harbor shifted to BNSF Dock 5 shortly after midnight. Federal Yukina departed Duluth at 01:57 with petroleum coke for Quebec, and Paul R. Tregurtha arrived from anchorage 30 minutes later to take the Yukina’s place at Midwest Energy. Wrapping up the early-morning traffic, American Integrity departed via the Duluth Entry for Conneaut at 05:08 with Minntac pellets from CN Dock 6. Paul R. Tregurtha made her way under the Aerial Lift Bridge with a split load of coal (and possibly petroleum coke) for St. Clair and Monroe at 14:48, with Eeborg following her out exactly one hour later with beet pulp pellets from Gavilon in Superior. The saltie is due next in Waterford, Ireland. On the Wisconsin side of the harbor, Victory/Maumee anchored off the Superior Entry at around 17:00 to wait for Burns Harbor to depart BNSF. The footer cleared the piers at 21:06 with Hibtac pellets for her namesake port, and Victory guided her barge in to load at 21:31. Indiana Harbor is still taking a delay at Elevator M in Superior as of Tuesday night.
Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
As of 18:30 on Tuesday, Sam Laud was east of Outer Island bound for Two Harbors. This will be an infrequent visit for the vessel. In Silver Bay, Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader departed Cliffs Northshore Mining at 06:52 for an unknown port, likely Toledo.
Northern Lake Michigan Ports – Anonymous
Charlevoix, MI: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger arrived at 20:16 on Monday to load at St. Marys Cement and departed Tuesday at 4:35 for Cleveland. Caroline McKee/Commander had been at anchor since Monday night and proceeded to the dock to load cement.
Southern Lake Michigan Ports – Joshua Hebeisen
Calumet Harbor, IL: Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 departed at 05:03 with gypsum for Charlevoix. Algoma Sault was inbound at 16:28 with another load of Goderich salt for the Central Salt dock. Once again, Fivelborg remained moored at the Iroquois Landing Lakefront Terminus.
Indiana Harbor, IN: After spending a few days in port at the former Mittal West dock, Joseph L. Block departed at 00:20 for Toledo. Mesabi Miner was also outbound at 21:58 after unloading ore at Dock 7H; she is due next in Duluth-Superior. James R. Barker, which had been anchored off the harbor entrance since around 22:00 Monday night, weighed anchor and proceeded inbound for 7H at 22:27.
Burns Harbor, IN: Federal Nakagawa arrived at 07:26 and docked at the Metro Ports facility.
Northern Lake Huron Ports
Alpena, MI: Alpena arrived her namesake port at 11:46 and went to anchor.
Calcite, MI: Defiance/Ashtabula departed for Cleveland at 19:25.
Port Dolomite, MI: Departing for Buffington at 02:18 was the pair Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader.
Meldrum Bay, ON: John J. Boland departed 18:44 Monday evening for Green Bay.
Thessalon, ON: CSL’s classic laker Frontenac arrived Monday at 20:26 and proceeded to the anchorage.
Saginaw River, MI – Todd Shorkey
American Courage finished her unload at the Burroughs North dock in Essexville overnight and was outbound from the Saginaw River early Tuesday morning. Candace Elise/Robert F. Deegan also finished unloading at Port Fisher Terminals in Bay City and were outbound Tuesday afternoon.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Innovator made her fourth appearance in Goderich on Tuesday, arriving at 06:25 to load salt at Compass Minerals. She will be delivering the cargo to Muskegon.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Algoma Transport was outbound for Hamilton, and Saginaw arrived at 04:39 to take her place at the CSX coal dock before departing at 15:00. Herbert C. Jackson is at Midwest, American Mariner arrived from anchorage at 13:51, and saltie Iryda left for Montreal.
Kingsville, OH: Cuyahoga arrived at 11:40 to unload stone at Southwestern Sales. She left for Marblehead at 15:02.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder departed for Cleveland at 05:46. Fellow tug/barge combo Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived Lafarge at 06:34, and Cuyahoga went to anchor at 20:52.
Cleveland, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder were inbound with stone for RiverDock at 10:49. The pair moved to the Cleveland Bulk Terminal after unloading and will load shuttles for Cliffs.
Nanticoke, ON: Algoterra departed for Halifax at 03:13. The only arrival of the day was Presque Isle, inbound with ore for Stelco at 14:11. Algonova is at Imperial Oil, with Algosea expected to join her on Wednesday.
Hamilton, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Tanker Erria Swan departed Toronto Tank Lines at 01:10 with tallow for an unknown overseas port. Perelik was the only other vessel traffic for the day, arriving under the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge at 07:27 to proceed to anchorage in the harbor. Vessels berthed in the harbor included Belasitza unloading urea at Agrico, Federal Champlain just next to her at the Richardson Terminal loading grain, Damia Desgagnes refueling with LNG at Lafarge, Florence Spirit unloading steel coils at Federal Marine Terminals, and Johanna G offloading steel at the same facility. Tundra, Mandarin, Marietje Deborah, and Perelik are at anchor.
