Two Harbors, MN – Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Indiana Harbor arrived Two Harbors at 16:53 on 4/2 and depart Two Harbors for Conneaut on 4/2 at 10:39. The Great Republic arrived Two Harbors at 11:12 on 4/3. The Joseph L. Block got underway off Port Wing at 16:00 for what was expected to be Two Harbors but ended up loading at west of CN 6 in Duluth. The Arthur M. Anderson arrived Two Harbors at 18:30 for S of #1 layby.
Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
After a sleepy Monday morning in Thunder Bay with just one ship (G3 Marquis) in port, Baie St. Paul arrived at 14:25 to load up for Montreal, QC, at the Viterra A elevator. Harvest Spirit, the port’s first visitor just over a week ago, would come off the big lake just under two hours later, but opted to go to anchor despite most of the harbor’s berths being open. It is quite possible she is pouting after learning this visit does not come with another free beaver fur top hat. Around 18:00, G3 Marquis would depart Richardson Main for an unlisted destination, and Evans Spirit arrived the terminal 30 minutes later to load at the Current River slip.
Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
It’s been a busy few days at the ore dock here in Marquette. On Friday, the Lee Tregurtha and the Kaye Barker were both at the ore dock loading. On Sunday, the Sam Laud arrived followed by the Erie Trader who stayed anchored in the upper harbor till this morning when she finally docked at the ore dock. Monday afternoon, the Herbert Jackson arrived. Tuesday, the Kaye Barker and the Hon. James Oberstar are scheduled for arrival. Then, the next scheduled arrival will be Lee Tregurtha who will arrive very early Friday morning.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Michipicoten cleared 08:58 downbound Toledo Ohio. Algoma Conveyor expected next for salt.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Monday morning in the Motor City got off to a nice start with another transit by frequent flyer Kaye E. Barker. Officially marking her departure at 08:02, the Barker set sail back north for Marquette, MI, and another load of Tilden pellets that will eventually make their way back down to Detroit’s own River Rouge. Her turnaround time on this particular trip may be a bit longer than usual due to yet more winter storms (sigh) expected to hit the northland.
At 10:33, Iver Bright would also leave the Rouge after another of her frequent deliveries, slipping out of town to the north for her adoptive home of Sarnia, ON’s Suncor dock. American Integrity would call on Mistersky about an hour later for fuel. The footer got back on her way at 15:02 for Duluth, MN, and more taconite pellets. Across the way in Windsor, Egberg Wagenborg cast off from Morterm at around 14:00 and made the short trip down the shoreline to ADM. Leonard M/Huron Spirit would take over at Morterm before the hour was up.
A little more Mistersky action would wrap up the night, beginning with James R. Barker pulling up to the dock shortly after 18:00 following a quick stop at Monroe, MI. Her time in the Motor City would indeed be brief as well, and the 1,004-foot giant set course for Duluth before 23:00. Upbound Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson were next in line at the dock, fueling overnight for a trip up to Stoneport, MI. The pair project as the quarry’s first customers of the spring.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe, MI: James R. Barker arrived from Cleveland for a brief stop on her way to Duluth. New York/Double Skin 509A is still unloading.
Toledo, OH: Michipicoten arrived from Goderich, ON.
Sandusky, OH: Manitoulin awoke from her layup in Windsor and arrived to load at the Norfolk Southern coal dock.
Lorain, OH: Tug Kathy Lynn is working on dredging the Black River.
Cleveland, OH: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson unloaded and then left for Stoneport. Once the tug and barge cleared the breakwall, Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder moved to the Bulk Terminal to load a shuttle. Wilfred Sykes arrived later in the morning and delivered to the Cliffs stone dock. After delivering, she backed out of the Cuyahoga River with tug assistance and anchored in Lake Erie. Once Dorothy Ann and her barge entered the Cuyahoga River, the Sykes was able to proceed to the Bulk Terminal, where she is scheduled to run a few shuttles to Cliffs. NACC Alicudi was a very late night arrival to unload at Holcim Cement. Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II is unloading at the Jefferson St.
Conneaut, OH: American Integrity finished her unload and departed for Duluth. Next to arrive at the P&C Dock was the tug and barge Defiance/Ashtabula.
Erie, PA: Great Lakes Fleet’s ITB Presque Isle departed layup for Two Harbors, MN. The sandsucker J.S. St. John has begun another season of operation on Lake Erie.
Nanticoke, ON: Departures were Paul A. Desgagnes for Montreal and Algonova for Sept-Iles. Sarah Desgagnes weighed anchor and is loading at Imperial Oil.
