Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry
Paul R. Tregurtha arrived Sunday night at 22:10 (Central) to load low sulfur coal at SMET; they departed the next morning at 11:19 for St. Clair. CSL Niagara departed soon after at 12:08 Monday afternoon with iron ore pellets for Nanticoke. CSL Assiniboine arrived from anchor at 12:24 to load iron ore pellets at CN#6 for Quebec City. To escape incoming weather, Joseph L. Block arrived at 18:05 Monday night to wait at CN for Two Harbors; Joyce L. Vanenkevort arrived soon after under the same lift at 18:14 to wait at Fraser. Federal Dart departed empty at 23:41 that same night to escape incoming weather. After a few days of 60mph winds and 10 foot waves, Joseph L. Block departed at 20:35 Wednesday night to anchor outside Duluth.

As of Wednesday night, CSL Assiniboine was still waiting out weather at CN#6 while Stewart J. Cort waited at Port Terminal. CSL Assiniboine is estimated to depart Thursday morning with iron ore pellets. Traffic for the rest of the day will depend on weather conditions.

Superior Entry
Stewart J. Cort arrived late Sunday at 23:38 (Central) to wait out the weather at Port Terminal. Burns Harbor finally departed at 16:53 Monday afternoon with iron ore pellets for her namesake port. Algoma Intrepid arrived at 17:32 to load at BNSF#5. As of Wednesday night, Algoma Intrepid was still waiting on weather at BNSF, Joyce L. VanEnkevort was waiting at Fraser Shipyards, and American Spirit was still wintering at Elevator M. Algoma Intrepid is estimated to depart Thursday morning. After they depart, either Stewart J. Cort or Joyce L. VanEnkevort will load next.

Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
Great Republic departed Two Harbors at 13:19 for Duluth anchorage before heading on to Gary Works. Arthur M. Anderson is at South of #1 waiting to load at the shiploader. The Mesabi Miner is anchored near L’Anse, MI for Two Harbors.

Marquette, MI – Noah H.
Once again, Marquette’s current and future traffic heavily involves Interlake’s classics. To begin, Herbert C. Jackson departed for Detroit at 12:41. She was replaced by the Hon. James L. Oberstar at 16:10, which was followed shortly after by the Kaye E. Barker at 18:27. The Oberstar and Barker occupy opposite sides of the dock currently. The Jackson, on her way down the St. Marys river, will pass the only other vessel with Marquette as their destination, the Lee A. Tregurtha. Interlake has thrown every classic ship they can muster (except for the John Sherwin) at Marquette to start the season.

Stoneport, MI – Joshua Hebeisen
After taking a weather delay across the lake, Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arrived at 22:30 Wednesday night to get the limestone season started at Stoneport.

Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Conveyor loading at Compass Minerals. Algoma Sault expected next for salt.

Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Toledo, OH: Departures were Michipicoten for Sandusky and Sam Laud for Detroit.
Marblehead, OH: Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder arrived at Holcim to load stone for Cleveland, leaving late in the afternoon.
Sandusky, OH: Michipicoten arrived to load coal at Norfolk Southern.
Cleveland, OH: Port activity has Isadora at berth 24W with steel coils and Leonard M/Huron Spirit at 26W with steel coils. Once finished unloading, Leonard M departed for Windsor. Wilfred Sykes is on the second of 3 shuttles for Cliffs. Algoma Innovator is at Cargill loading salt. Local lake and river cruise ship Nautica Queen has begun her new season of offering tours.
Conneaut, OH: Edwin H. Gott unloaded at the P&C dock and left for Two Harbors, MN.
Nanticoke, ON: John D. Leitch departed for Clarkson, ON. Arrivals were Algotitan to load at Imperial Oil and CSL’s Baie Comeau to unload ore at Stelco. Algosea is loading at Imperial Oil.
