Duluth-Superior – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry: Arthur M. Anderson departed at 23:47 (CST) Thursday night with iron ore pellets for Gary. As of Friday evening, Spruceglen was anchored off Duluth waiting to load at CN#6. Spruceglen is expected Saturday morning to load at CN.
Superior Entry: CSL Tadoussac departed at 09:09 (CST) Friday morning with an ice-breaking assist from USCG Hollyhock while loaded with iron ore pellets for Nanticoke. Baie Comeau arrived at 11:10 to load at BNSF. As of Friday night, Baie Comeau was loading at BNSF; they are estimated to depart Saturday morning with an ice-breaking assist from USCG Hollyhock. Michipicoten is expected Saturday afternoon to load iron ore at BNSF.
Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A. Putney
At 19:25 on 20:22 the CSL Assiniboine was downbound on Lake Superior off Tofte heading for Two Harbors. Also bound for Two Harbors are the Edwin H. Gott and the Edgar B. Speer. Both are at Whitefish Pt. at approx. 19:00
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
Polsteam’s Resko arrived at 07:03 Friday. With an assist from G-tug Hawaii, she backed into south slip one, outer harbor, and tied up at the Federal Marine Terminals dock. Resko is Milwaukee’s first seaway vessel of 2022 and brings steel from IJmuiden, Netherlands. Bradshaw McKee/St. Marys Conquest arrived from Charlevoix at 09:11 with cement for the Kinnickinnic River terminal.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Sault cleared at 15:56 Wednesday afternoon upbound for Chicago with salt. Algoma Niagara cleared at 21:07 Thursday downbound for Becancour with salt. Unisea (Saltie) cleared at 08:23 Friday morning downbound with grain. Algoma Innovator was loading at Compass Minerals.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Monroe: New York/Double Skin 509A is still in port.
Toledo: Algoma Transport arrived at 09:43.
Marblehead: American Courage loaded stone and left for Marysville. Cuyahoga arrived to load at 17:59.
Cleveland: McKeil Spirit unloaded cement and left for Picton at 04:22. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder is off of the shuttles and is loading salt at Cargill.
Fairport Harbor: Cuyahoga arrived at 03:50, unloaded at Osborne and departed for Marblehead at 10:59. Defiance/Ashtabula arrived from Detroit at 15:36.
Ashtabula: CSL Welland arrived at 20:34 and went to the Pinney dock.
Nanticoke: Algonova arrived at Stelco at 17:19.
Buffalo, NY – Brian Wroblewski
Surprisingly, cement was not the first cargo arrival of the year for the 2022 season. The American Mariner came in with grain from Superior for General Mills at 7AM on April 6th. Typically, the LaFarge terminal on Ohio St. gets the first load every time, but not this year. NACC Argonaut was met by the tug Vermont in the Outer Harbor at 6AM on the 7thfor a tow up to LaFarge. She was winded and towed in stern first with a full load of cement from Bath, Ontario. Argonaut was done first and departed Buffalo for Bath at 4:38AM on the morning of the 8th, followed by the Mariner bound for Toledo at 5:21AM.
