Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
Michipicoten departed Two Harbors at 22:57 on August 9 for Algoma Steel in the Soo. Both the Edwin H. Gott and the Arthur M. Anderson are heading for the Two Harbors shiploader.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Stewart J. Cort departed Silver Bay for Burns Harbor. Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader is heading for Silver Bay to load for Toledo.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
American Spirit made another visit on Wednesday, arriving at 13:23 for the usual load of ore. This round took the standard 24 hours (almost exactly), and at 13:18 on Thursday the Spirit was outbound for the lake. Her destination is currently unknown. Next up will be the Lee A. Tregurtha and Victory/Maumee.
Drummond Island, MI (Drummond, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
After loitering in Lake Huron for the better part of the day, John J. Boland arrived at 19:32 to take on the first half of a two-part stone cargo. Once she’s finished at Drummond Dolomite, the Boland will make the short trip south to Calcite, MI.
Port Dolomite, MI (Cedarville, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Port Dolo bid farewell to Joseph L. Block around three o’clock as the laker departed for Port Inland, MI. Sam Laud would arrive minutes later to load up for Ludington, MI, and Benton Harbor, MI, departing for her dual destinations at 14:31.
Port Inland, MI (Gulliver, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Gulliver’s Travels continued at 06:44 Thursday morning with the departure of Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader to Silver Bay, MN, a rather unusual move for the pair. Joseph L. Block arrived from Port Dolomite, MI, at 10:11, departing at 19:56 for Burns Harbor, IN. Herbert C. Jackson rounded out the day with a 23:34 arrival. Action Jackson will be filling up with stone for Ferrysburg, MI.
Grand Haven, MI – Ferrysburg, MI – Noah H.
Interlake’s Herbert C. Jackson stopped by on Thursday at 00:50, kicking off a rather busy day with her extremely early arrival. She brought stone from Drummond Island for the Verplank dock up in Ferrysburg. Hot on the Jackson’s stern was the Algoma Innovator, carrying salt from Goderich. The newer vessel would saddle up next to the classic upon her 01:36 arrival. Neither visitor would stay long, as Herbie was already outbound for Port Inland at 07:30, and the Innovator headed for Bruce Mines at 11:53.
Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Classic Kaye E. Barker arrived at 07:00 on Thursday, bringing Calcite stone to the Cobb Verplank dock. As is often the case, the Barker was gone in less than 10 hours. She headed out for Port Inland following her 16:22 departure.
Calcite, MI (Rogers City, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
H. Lee White was in town not bright but very early at 00:36. She would spend her morning loading stone before departing for Fairport Harbor, OH, at 13:51.
Stoneport, MI (Presque Isle, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Midnight Menominee arrived minutes into the new morning with Olive L. Moore close behind, the tug pushing her barge into Presque Isle for stone. The cargo will be delivered to Marysville, MI, this weekend.
Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Manitowoc arrived at noon to load for Muskegon, MI.
Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss
Paul R. Tregurtha unloaded coal at DTE and departed with a different (for her) destination of Two Harbors, MN, rather than her usual stop for coal at Midwest Energy in Superior, WI.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
The lone arrival on Thursday was the Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin to load coal at CSX.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader is loading limestone at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH – Bill Kloss
Defiance/Ashtabula had a change of orders and went to Port Dolomite.
Lorain, OH – Bill Kloss
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader unloaded at Carmeuse and left for Marblehead.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
Cruise ship Pearl Mist arrived at the Port passenger dock and guests disembarked to see the local sights. When all were back aboard, the ship departed to Detroit. Algoma Buffalo arrived for salt at Cargill. American Courage is on the shuttles.
Fairport Harbor, OH (Grand River, OH) – Bill Kloss
CSL Tadoussac departed with road salt for Bowmanville, ON.
Conneaut, OH – Bill Kloss
American Integrity left for Superior, WI once empty.
Nanticoke, ON – Bill Kloss
Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin left for Toledo. Algonova departed with petroleum products for Oakville, ON. Algosea and Algoberta are at Imperial Oil. CSL Niagara arrived with ore for Stelco.
