Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
Edwin H. Gott departed Two Harbors on August 11 at 15:12 for the Gary Works. Edgar B. Speer is heading for Two Harbors and the shiploader.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
The Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader is heading for Silver Bay, probably to load for Toledo.
Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Following a delivery of T-Bay grain to the Twin Ports earlier this week, Algoma Niagara arrived in port for the same cargo at 03:08 Friday morning. This load, however, is at P&H and destined for Hamilton, ON. Thunder Bay would arrive her favorite port at 06:16 to load at Viterra A, and Federal Frontier departed Thunder Bay Terminals for Montreal, QC, at 11:59, thus wrapping up the workweek.
Manitoulin and Chestnut are in port loading at Viterra B and MobilEx, respectively. G3 Marquis is anchored south of port waiting her turn.
Drummond Island, MI (Drummond, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
John J. Boland departed at 00:17 for Calcite, MI.
Port Dolomite, MI (Cedarville, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Defiance/Ashtabula arrived for Carmeuse Cedarville at 16:47.
Port Inland, MI (Gulliver, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Herbert C. Jackson departed at 10:24 for her second trip to Ferrysburg, MI, in a row. The laker, however, appears to be yearning for some summer vacation, once again setting her AIS to the similar-sounding Fernandina, FL, instead of Ferrysburg. After all, fleetmate Kaye E. Barker “hit the beach” earlier this year, so why can’t Herbie? Speaking of Kaye, she would be in to relieve the Jackson at 10:46.
Calcite, MI (Rogers City, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
John J. Boland arrived an empty port at 03:06, soon to be followed in by Philip R. Clarke at 05:47. The pair would load side-by-side until 14:53 when the Boland left for Marine City, MI. Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 arrived at 19:57 but was uncharacteristically a little timid, tying up well outside the main loading area and staying there for the rest of the evening. In the meantime, the Clarke cleared for Duluth, MN, at 21:15.
Stoneport, MN (Presque Isle, MI) – Joshua Hebeisen
Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder made port at 07:00, loading on the shores of Presque Isle before clearing around 21:30. Her AIS indicates a Detroit, MI, destination.
Bruce Mines, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Innovator arrived to take on trap rock at 09:30. The youngster would already be on her way to the River Rouge in Detroit, MI, less than 12 hours later.
Meldrum Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Mark W. Barker arrived at 02:00 to load for Fairport Harbor, OH, later departing early afternoon en route to Lake Erie.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin and Algoma Transport are at CSX. Arriving later in the day were Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader to Ironville, Samuel de Champlain/Innovation to Holcim, and Albert/Margaret late Friday night to the Gradel dock.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader loaded stone for a return to Lorain to unload at Holcim. After unloading in Lorain, the tug and barge returned to Marblehead.
Sandusky, OH – Bill Kloss
CSL Niagara arrived for coal at Norfolk Southern.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
Algoma Buffalo departed with salt for Oshawa. James R. Barker arrived with 63,000 tons of UTAC pellets for the Bulk Terminal. American Courage is on the shuttles.
Grand River, OH – Fairport Harbor, OH – Bill Kloss
H. Lee White arrived from Calcite with limestone for Osborne.
Nanticoke, ON – Bill Kloss
Departing were Algosea to Tracy, PQ, and CSL Niagara to Sandusky. Algoberta is at Imperial Oil.
