Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
James R. Barker was loading at Two Harbors shiploader as of 18:30, and the Manitoulin is SW of Two Harbors waiting on the Barker. Also, the Algoma Strongfield is at the top of Keweenaw heading for Two Harbors.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
At 18:30, the Burns Harbor was departing Silver Bay for no listed port.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
Hon. James L. Oberstar made a Sunday morning visit, arriving early to load ore at 02:04. Due to such an early inbound time, JLO was already outbound for Detroit at 10:46. The next traffic would come on Monday, with the noon arrival of the Oberstar’s fleet mate Kaye E. Barker. She too would not stay long, as a speedy 6.5 hour load had her on her way to Detroit as well by 18:37. Yet another Interlake vessel is on her way in the form of the Lee A. Tregurtha, as is ASC’s American Spirit.
Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Kaye E. Barker departed at 00:23 in the opening minutes of Sunday morning, having unloaded her load of stone. Next up for classy Kaye is a stop at Marquette. Tug Meredith Ashton returned to Muskegon early Monday morning with her 01:43 arrival. She would head to the Ashton Marine dock, as one would expect. Next up would be the grand old Alpena, coming from Green Bay with the usual load for Holcim. Her 19:35 arrival suggests a morning departure on Tuesday.
St. Clair River – Joshua Hebeisen
Algoma Discovery passed beneath the Blue Water Bridge early Monday afternoon bound for Two Harbors, MN, resuming her season after a month-long lay-up in Sarnia, ON.
Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss
Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 left with a destination of Port Colborne.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
Departing were Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder to Saginaw and Karen Andrie/Endeavor to Indiana Harbor.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
Mark W. Barker departed with limestone for Cleveland. Algoma Compass arrived from Buffalo and is anchored.
Lorain, OH – Bill Kloss
Defiance/Ashtabula left for Sandusky once empty.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
Departures were American Courage to Calcite, Indiana Harbor to Duluth-Superior, Wilfred Sykes to Dearborn and Algoma Buffalo with salt to Thorold. Arrivals were Victory/Maumee with ore for the Bulk Terminal, Happy Ranger to Dock 22E at the Port to load containers, Mark W. Barker with limestone for the West 3rd. St. stone dock and the cruise ship Ocean Voyager to the Port passenger dock. Victory/Maumee left for Toledo once empty. Beatrix is at Dock 24W at the port. Ocean Voyager departed to Port Colborne later in the evening.
Buffalo, NY – Lackawanna, NY – Tonawanda, NY – Brian Wroblewski
Around 23:45 Monday night the Algoma Compass was all done unloading salt in Lackawanna and backed out to the lake to wind. The Compass got herself turned around with the thrusters outside the breakwall and headed for Marblehead, OH.
The tugs Wyatt M. and Sheri Lynn made a third attempt to get their deck barge MM 170 through the Black Rock Lock at 08:00 on August 14. This time they were successful, and they took her down the Chippawa Channel for the Niagara Control Works on the Canadian Side near the Falls. Following right behind them was the New York/DS 509A with the Vermont headed for Marathon in Tonawanda. They came through the lock at 09:00 and winded below the South Grand Island bridges to make the dock at Marathon.

Algoma Compass left for Marblehead. New York/Double Skin 509A is unloading at Suite Kote.
