Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
As of 18:45 on Thursday, both the Michipicton and Edwin H. Gott are heading for Two Harbors. The John G. Munson is nearing the Keweenaw heading for the Gary Works. CSL Welland has loaded in Two Harbors and is headed for Quebec City with an export load of iron ore.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Joyce L. VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader has loaded in Silver Bay and is now heading for Toledo.
Thunder Bay, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Bound for Belgium, Barnacle departed Thunder Bay Terminals at 01:36. Whatever she loaded in port will likely be discharged at the Belgian city of Ghent along the extensive Ghent-Terneuzen Canal.
The rest of the day would belong to Fednav. Federal Montreal arrived from anchor at 01:52 for Thunder Bay Terminals, Federal Oshima followed suit at 16:56 for Viterra A, and Federal Kumano departed P&H at 21:26 for Immingham, Great Britain.
Providing moral support for their arriving and departing fleetmates were Federal Cedar at Keefer Terminal and Federal Frontier in the anchorage.
Waukegan, IL – Joshua Hebeisen
WaukTown welcomed in one of its occasional vessel visitors at 01:36 as Sam Laud arrived with geological goodies for National Gypsum. Her unload throughout the day consisted of both gypsum from National Gypsum’s own mine near Tawas City, MI, and standard stone from Carmeuse’s quarry in Port Inland, MI. The Laud later departed for the latter company’s operation in Calcite, MI, at 19:48.
Midland, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Frontenac arrived safe and sound (but still a little wet) at 20:12 after sailing down Georgian Bay in the midst of a nasty summer storm. Videos from the region indicated hail and potentially even some August snow (!) hit the area on Thursday evening. Fronty will be unloading grain from Thunder Bay, ON, at the ADM elevator.
Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss
Paul R. Tregurtha departed for Superior, WI, and New York/Double Skin 509A is headed to Detroit.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
Algoma Niagara is at Andersons and Clyde S. VanEnkevort/Erie Trader is at Torco. Departures were G.L. Ostrander/Integrity to Alpena and Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader to Detroit for fuel and then Meldrum Bay. Arriving were the tug and barge Albert/Margaret to Midwest Terminals and Mark W. Barker with salt for the ARMS Dock.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
DorothyAnn/Pathfinder is loading stone at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH – Bill Kloss
Algoma Transport loaded coal and left for Bowmanville, ON.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
McKeil Spirit arrived to unload at Lehigh Cement. Dorothy Ann/Pathfinder ran a shuttle then left for Marblehead. Polsteam’s Narie left for Burns Harbor. Sea Eagle II/St. Marys Cement II is unloading.
Ashtabula, OH – Bill Kloss
American Mariner departed to Calcite once empty.
