Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry
Walter J. McCarthy Jr. departed at 23:06 (Central) Thursday night with iron ore pellets for Conneaut. Steamer Philip R. Clarke arrived at 04:32 Friday morning to unload limestone at the C. Reiss dock in West Duluth. American Century arrived at 07:29 to fuel before loading low-sulfur coal at SMET. Finnborg finally departed at 18:24 Friday evening with beet pulp pellets for Ireland. American Century departed at 22:36 with coal for DTE’s Belle River plant. Great Republic arrived at 01:17 Saturday morning with limestone for Hallett Dock 5. Philip R. Clarke departed at 14:27 with iron ore pellets. Michipicoten arrived at 00:23 Sunday morning to load iron ore pellets at CN #6. Paul R. Tregurtha arrived at 04:10 to load coal at SMET. H. Lee White arrived at 07:45 to unload limestone at Graymont in Superior. Great Republic departed at 12:25 Sunday afternoon with iron ore pellets. Paul R. Tregurtha departed at 17:01 with coal for DTE Energy. Michipicoten departed at 23:12 Sunday night with iron ore pellets for Algoma Steel. H. Lee White departed at 04:14 Monday morning with petroleum coke for Alpena, Michigan. Great Republic arrived at 05:57 for repairs at the CN ore dock; they had turned around the previous evening only moving at half speed. James R. Barker arrived at 08:54 to load iron ore pellets at Canadian National.
As of Monday afternoon, James R. Barker was loading at CN #6 while Great Republic was taking a delay for repairs on the east side of the dock. James R. Barker is estimated to depart Tuesday morning with iron ore pellets; Great Republic has an unknown departure time. Algoma Mariner will be the next arrival for Duluth, arriving on Wednesday to load petroleum coke.
Superior Entry
Atlantic Huron departed at 05:54 (Central) Friday morning with iron ore pellets for Nanticoke. American Integrity arrived at 06:20 to load next at BNSF; they departed at 08:41 Saturday morning with iron ore pellets for Conneaut. CSL Laurentien arrived at 09:08 to load next at BNSF; they departed at 21:07 for Quebec City. After a few days at Lakehead Pipeline, Burns Harbor left at 17:17 Sunday evening with iron ore pellets for her namesake port. CSL Niagara came in next at 17:53 to load iron ore pellets, and they departed at 06:05 Monday morning. Finally, Algoma Guardian arrived at 06:34 to load at BNSF.
As of Monday after, Algoma Guardian was still loading at BNSF while Capt. Henry Jackman waited at anchor. Algoma Guardian is estimated to depart late Monday evening with iron ore pellets. Besides the Capt. Henry Jackman, CSL Assiniboine is due tomorrow evening followed by Spruceglen.
Two Harbors, MN – Gary Putney
Mesabi Miner is due in Two Harbors to load at the shiploader.
Silver Bay, MN – Gary Putney
Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader is due in Cliffs Silver Bay to load for Toledo.
Marquette, MI – Noah H.
Hon. James L. Oberstar arrived at 21:19 to load ore at the southernmost dock. At over 800 feet in length, she is one of the longest to load at Marquette; the longest, the American Spirit, is currently on her way to load next.
Holland, MI – Noah H.
A dry spell of shipping traffic at Holland ended on Monday with the arrival of frequent visitor Undaunted/Pere Marquette 41 at 05:08. The duo would head across the lake for the Padnos dock, where they would reside for the majority of the day. Finally, they departed for Indiana Harbor at 23:36.
Muskegon, MI – Noah H.
Samuel de Champlain/Innovation arrived at 02:48 to unload at Holcim, as per usual. Before her departure later in the evening, Manitowoc finally left at 16:54 after undergoing repairs to fix some leaking fuel. She is headed next to Port Inland, a journey that we hope will be less eventful than the previous. Finally, the de Champlain headed back for Alpena at 17:36 having completed all her stops.
Monroe, MI – Bill Kloss
New York/Double Skin 509A is unloading at the Port dock and Happy Ranger departed for Thunder Bay.
Toledo, OH – Bill Kloss
Algoma Sault departed to Bruce Mines, ON. Saginaw arrived later in the evening.
Marblehead, OH – Bill Kloss
Sam Laud arrived to load limestone at Holcim.
Sandusky, OH – Bill Kloss
John J. Boland is loading coal. Rt. Hon. Paul J. Martin is berthed at the dock waiting to load.
Cleveland, OH – Bill Kloss
Cruise ship Viking Octantis arrived at the Port of Cleveland passenger dock. This is the first visit for Viking Octantis here. She left in the evening, next stop is Detroit. Algoma Buffalo is loading salt at Cargill, Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger is unloading cement and American Courage is running shuttles.
Fairport Harbor, OH – Bill Kloss
Sam Laud unloaded limestone at Osborne then departed to Marblehead. Frontenac is loading at Morton Salt and CSL Tadoussac is at anchor in Lake Erie.
Ashtabula, OH – Bill Kloss
American Mariner finished unloading and left for Port Dolomite.
Conneaut, OH – Bill Kloss
Walter J. McCarthy Jr. delivered ore to the P&C Dock.
Erie, PA – Bill Kloss
Herbert C. Jackson departed to Drummond Island.
Buffalo, NY – Bill Kloss
Defiance/Ashtabula is anchored in Lake Erie.
Nanticoke, ON – Bill Kloss
Atlantic Huron arrived to deliver ore to Stelco. Algoterra is still loading at Imperial Oil and Algosea remains anchored. Also arriving at Stelco to unload ore was Edwin H. Gott.
