Duluth-Superior, MI/WI:- EB

Great Republic arrived Duluth at 9am on Saturday, December 9th, laden with iron ore pellets from Two Harbors, MN destined for Gary, IN. The ship berthed on the east side of CN Dock 6 on the Duluth waterfront and spent a little over 3 hours there before getting underway again, departing Duluth under stiffening northerly winds and flurries of rain and snow. As of the evening of December 9th they were hugging the north shore of Lake Superior on their way east, as weather warnings were up for northerly gales on central and eastern Lake Superior.

John G Munson arrived the Superior Entry at 10am on December 9th to load iron ore pellets for Gary at BNSF. As of late evening December 9th they were still at the dock.

Federal Montreal dropped anchor outside Duluth just after 7pm on Saturday. Initial listings had them slated to load wheat at the CHS, Inc. grain terminal in Superior, WI, but more recent publicly published ship traffic forecasts are showing they may be due to load at Riverland Ag instead.

Joyce L VanEnkevort / Great Lakes Trader arrived Duluth late evening December 9th to load iron ore pellets at CN 6.

Polish-owned Drawsko was on approach to Duluth late Saturday evening, expected to arrive right around midnight and go directly into Riverland Ag’s loading berth in Duluth (ex Cargill B1). Tugs Kentucky and Missouri were on the move to help maneuver Drawsko into berth despite windy conditions.

Depending on weather on central and eastern Lake Superior, Sunday might see Joyce L VanEnkevort/Great Lakes Trader and John G Munson depart Duluth-Superior. Oceangoing bulker Federal Hunter should be nearing Duluth Sunday afternoon or early evening, and may go to anchor or arrive directly for a berth at the CHS terminal. American Century may slide into the Superior Entry just before Sunday turns to Monday; they’re due to load at BNSF.
