Duluth, MN – Superior, WI – Joshua Hebeisen
The only Monday traffic in the Twin Ports was the departure of Polsteam’s Jamno, leaving port at 19:14 with wheat for Italy. Trips beneath the Aerial Lift Bridge bookended what was a long eight-day load at CHS 1 complicated by winter storms and frigid temperatures. Duluth is expecting one more saltie for the season, Federal Kushiro, later this week.
James R. Barker remained loading taconite pellets at West Duluth’s CN Dock 6.
St. Marys River – Know Your Ships
The Fednav saltie Federal Kushiro was upbound around 1 p.m. Monday for Duluth. She is the last upbound saltie of the season, and may well be the last downbound as well. Monday evening the saltwater vessel Strandja was loading at Thunder Bay.
The MacArthur Lock is now closed for the season. In the morning a crew placed the winter bridge across the upper end of the lock. This bridge provides street access to the center pier area during winter maintenance.
