Calumet Harbor, IL – Joshua Hebeisen
CSL’s Whitefish Bay made port at 12:07 with salt for Compass Minerals, later shifting farther down the Calumet River to discharge the remainder of her cargo at Morton. She departed three minutes to midnight for an unknown destination, likely for more salt at either Windsor, ON, (her port of origin) or Goderich, ON. Tug Massachusetts assisted the Trillium-class vessel throughout the day.
Port Huron, MI – Sarnia, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Sarnia’s Imperial Oil lower dock bid farewell to Algocanada at 08:21 Wednesday morning. Destined for Sault Ste. Marie, ON, with petroleum products, the tanker would be replaced at the dock midafternoon by fleetmate Algonova. The latter arrived from Nanticoke, ON, with another load of fuel around 15:30. CCGS Samuel Risley was inbound from Windsor, ON, about two hours later and tied up at the Sarnia Government Dock.
Detroit, MI – Windsor, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Finished unloading salt at Motor City Materials, Algoma Conveyor made preparations to depart the dock shortly after 07:00 and was soon on her way for a delay at Mistersky. G-tugs Pennsylvania and Wisconsin would once again assist her down the River Rouge. Algoma’s Equinox-class vessel eventually left port at 18:00 for more salt at Goderich, ON.
Across the Detroit River, CCGS Samuel Risley departed her Dieppe Gardens berth at 08:30 en route to Sarnia, ON. CCGS Griffon arrived to take the Risley’s place at 14:45; she had departed the Canadian Coast Guard Amherstburg Base earlier in the afternoon.
Lake Erie Ports – Bill Kloss
Algoterra weighed anchor off Nanticoke and is at Imperial Oil. Algosea is anchored off of Port Dover.
Port Colborne, ON – Joshua Hebeisen
Marine Recycling Corporation (MRC) is making quick work of Lower Lakes Towing’s former Ojibway, with only a portion of her bow left to dismantle. 96-year-old steamer S.T. Crapo is waiting in the wings to be towed ashore; Manistee is presumably third in the pecking order.
While we do not currently have daily summaries for the following ports, their respective port authority websites post schedules of vessel traffic that are featured below. Each schedule is a miniature webpage within a box. Scroll with your cursor in the box (or slide your finger within the box on a mobile device) to move through the schedule as you would a normal webpage.
