Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A. Putney
Presque Isle departed Two Harbors on 01/08 at 01:25 for Gary. The Joseph L. Block arrived Two Harbors on 01/08 at 02:30 after having been anchored off Duluth.As of 19:00 on 01/08 she’s still at the loading dock. The Edgar B. Speer is still anchored off Duluth. Her AIS says Duluth, but Harbor Lockout has her loading in Two Harbors. Arriving off Duluth at approx. 18:45 on 01/08 was the John J. Boland to wait on Two Harbors. Northshore Mining in Silver Bay has no scheduled on 01/09. Harbor Lookout isn’t showing any traffic for Silver Bay for the rest of the season.
Thunder Bay, ON
Friday; 19:47 Manitoulin departed for Goderich. 21:07 Algoma Niagara finished loading and shifted to the main anchorage for weather. Saturday; 13:47 Algoma Niagara departed for Toledo.
Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
Marquette Report for Jan 8th: The Manitowoc and Herbert Jackson arrived at the ore dock here in Marquette late Friday evening. Early Saturday morning, the Erie Trader arrived. On Sunday, the Kaye Barker should make an early afternoon arrival.
St. Marys River
Downbound traffic Saturday included Algonova, American Century, Manitowoc, Herbert C. Jackson and Manitoulin. Upbounders included CSL Assiniboine and Frontenac. CCGC cutters Bristol Bay and Mobile Bay were assisting traffic in the Mud Lake area. The Soo Locks close for the season at midnight Jan. 15.
Northern Lake Michigan
Charlevoix: Saturday; 1:24 Bradshaw McKee / St Marys Conquest arrived at the St Marys plant to load cement products. Weather Delays: Saturday; A south gale is blowing on Lake Michigan and several vessels have gone to anchor to wait out the weather. John G Munson is anchored in Hedge Hog Harbor at the north end of the Wisconsin Peninsula. Arthur M Anderson is anchored off of Wilderness State Park, west of Mackinaw City. Michipicoten is anchored east of Mackinaw City.
Milwaukee, WI – MKE Marine Reports
Sam Laud arrived from Waukegan Friday afternoon and proceeded to the heavy lift dock. She cleared for Indiana Harbor at 01:33 Saturday (01-08). Tug Spartan with barge Spartan II arrived from Burns Harbor Friday evening and tied up at the former Gillen dock. After delivering salt, Algoma Intrepid headed back to Goderich Friday night. Stewart J. Cort arrived from Burns Harbor at 13:18 Saturday and tied up at the heavy lift dock where she will spend the winter.
Northern Lake Huron
McGregor Bay: Saturday; 13:49 John D Leitch departed for Chicago.
Alpena: Saturday; 8:52 Great Republic arrived and went to anchor for weather.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Sault ( off North wall in basin ) loading at Compass Minerals, salt for Duluth. 34th time loading salt here this season and marks 200th lakeboat Goderich hosted this shipping season.
Lake Erie Ports for Saturday – Bill Kloss
Sandusky: Kaye E. Barker departed for Zug Island at 20:17. Robert S. Pierson moved up to load and CSL Niagara went to the dock to take a berth behind the Pierson.
Cleveland: Lee A. Tregurtha is due to arrive at the Bulk Terminal on Sunday.
Nanticoke: Algosea departed for Sarnia at 02:22. Algoma Hansa is at Imperial Oil. Algonorth is due to arrive on Sunday.
