Duluth-Superior – Scott Bjorklund
Duluth Entry: Arthur M. Anderson arrived at 21:05 (CST) Tuesday night to unload limestone at C.Reiss; she later shifted to load iron ore pellets at the Canadian National gravity dock. Algoma Innovator departed at 03:39 Wednesday morning empty for Thunder Bay. Joyce L. VanEnkevort and barge Great Lakes Trader arrived at 09:52 to fuel then shift to unload limestone at Graymont. Arthur M. Anderson departed at 15:09 with iron ore pellets for Conneaut. American Mariner arrived at 15:33 to unload limestone at CN-Hallett #5; she’s expected to load wheat at General Mills on departure. H. Lee White departed at 15:43 empty after taking a delay at Lakehead. As of Wednesday night, Mesabi Miner was loading at CN#6 and American Mariner was unloading at CN-Hallett #5. Mesabi Miner is estimated to depart sometime Wednesday night with iron ore pellets. Paul R. Tregurtha is expected early Thursday to load coal at SMET. Presque Isle is expected late Thursday night to load iron ore pellets at CN#6.
Superior Entry: Burns Harbor departed at 12:43 (CST) Wednesday afternoon with iron ore pellets for her namesake port. Frontenac arrived from anchor at 13:33 to replace her at BNSF. As of Wednesday night, Samuel de Champlain was still unloading at Lafarge, Frontenac was loading at BNSF, and Atlantic Huron was anchored off Superior waiting to load at BNSF. Algoma Guardian is expected late Wednesday to anchor off Superior. Frontenac is estimated to depart early Thursday with iron ore pellets; Atlantic Huron will arrive once Frontenac departs. Stewart J. Cort is expected late Thursday to also load at BNSF.
Two Harbors-Silver Bay – Gary A Putney
American Integrity arrived Two Harbors on 7/11 at 23:50. She departed on 7/12 at 20:39 for Indiana Harbor. Walter J. McCarthy Jr. arrived Two Harbors on 7/12 at 21:15 and departed on 7/13 at 15:49 for Gary. Arriving Two Harbors on7/13 at 15:45 was the Edgar B. Speer.Northshore Mining in Silver Bay saw the departure of Dirk S. VanEnkevort/Michigan Trader on 7/13 at 01:27 for Toledo. Clyde S. VanEnkevort arrived Silver Bay on 7/13 at 18:26. Due Two Harbors on 7/14 is the Edwin H. Gott.
Marquette, MI – Arthur Pickering
The next vessel due into the ore dock is the H. Lee White, scheduled for an early morning arrival on Friday. Then Sunday will be a very busy day when the Maumee arrives early Sunday followed by Michigan Trader a couple hours later and Lee Tregurtha scheduled for a late morning arrival.
Northern Lake Michigan
Port Inland: Wednesday; 1:44 Saginaw departed for Spragge.
Charlevoix: Tuesday; 23:02 Caroline McKee / Commander departed for Chicago.
Muskegon, MI – Muskegon Ships
Defiance and her barge Ashtabula arrived outside Muskegon at 21:30 on July 13 with a load of stone for the Verplank’s Lakeside Dock. The ATB pair did a few loops out in the lake while awaiting tug assistance from the Barbara Andrie. They came through the channel after 2:00 on July 14, and moored to the dock soon after. They departed late morning under the escort of Barbara Andrie. It is currently unknown why she required tug assistance during her visit.
Southern Lake Michigan
Federal Ruhr was at Burns Harbor Wednesday night, with Hon. James L. Oberstar due. Joseph L. Block was at Indiana Harbor.
Northern Lake Huron
Spragge: Wednesday; 13:28 Saginaw arrived to unload limestone.
Port Dolomite: Wednesday; 11:19 Lee A Tregurtha arrived to load limestone. 14:18 Herbert C Jackson arrived and went to anchor.
Alpena: Wednesday; 7:51 GL Ostrander arrived to load cement products.
Goderich, ON – Bruce Douglas
Algoma Compass cleared 2.13 pm Wednesday upbound with salt. Algoma Intrepid arrived 2.30 pm Wednesday loading at compass Minerals.
Lake Erie Ports for Wednesday – Bill Kloss
Sandusky: CSL Niagara arrived at 18:57 to load at Norfolk Southern.
Cleveland: Prentiss Brown/St. Marys Challenger departed for Charlevoix. USCGC Alder departed at 18:18. Her destination is Boston, MA., one more stop before she gets to Baltimore.
Fairport: Laura L. VanEnkevort/Joseph H. Thompson arived at 01:30. After a delay, the combo proceeded to RiverDock to unload. Algoma Buffalo was back at Cargill Salt, arriving from Thorold at 09:45.
Fairport Harbor: Calumet departed at 05:35 with salt for Toledo. CSL Tadoussac came in from anchorage at 06:32 to load at Morton Salt.
Erie: Victory/Maumee arrived at 12:54.
Nanticoke: CSL Niagara left for Sandusky at 05:11. Algoma Niagara departed at 05:25.
